In October Harvey Whiteley was very kind to invite me onto his radio show 'The Thursday Night Club' on CVFM. As well as having a chat with him and playing some tracks, he had me on to start his new guestmix segment. He asked me to do a mix of tracks from the label I used to run 'Digitized Recordings'. So what I have done here is cuit the show into 2 parts. Part 1 being the mix itself for those who just want to listen to it outright. The Digitized Laboratory - Experiment 002 Feat. Daniel Skyver

DR066 see's a return from the extremely talented Liquid Vision with the sublime track Flare. It's chunky proggy track but still all Trance and with his signature crisp clear production sound. This is a fantastic production.

Remixes come Steve Morley, Michele Cecchi and Odonbat.

Steve has done what he does best and made a epic uplifter out of his remix. Michele has made an incredible uplifter as well and Odonbat made a trancer with a progressive feel. All remixes are top notch and along with the original make an incredibly tight package.

Liquid Vision - Flare (Odonbat Remix)

New Found Love by Australian Trance legend, Andrew Byrns.

Straight off the bat you can hear the pace and course of this track. With an almost retro anthematic tech-trance kick and the immediate synth you feel the intention of a peak time banger. With driving bass and a minimal impact of percussion this is a track to get those screwed faces and arms pumping reactions we all as DJ’s strive for. Then almost as out of nowhere this beautifully simple almost lullaby-esk piano riff precludes a massive hands in the air middle 8 and build worthy of any good fingers tickling the laser moment! And when it drops! Oh boy! Back come the faces and arms! It’s a beastly created banger but through the last sections again that amazing simple lullaby runs through the track and right down that tingly it of your spine. 

Andrew made this track to celebrate the birth of his daughter, that would definitely explain the riff,  Very Askew/ early Atkinson with its delivery. With this one I would be aiming to play at peak time or to build a massive crescendo to end sets.

As well as having a chat with him and playing some tracks, he had me on to start his new guestmix segment. He asked me to do a mix of tracks from the label I used to run 'Digitized Recordings'. The Thursday Night Club with Cliffy Burrows

At the beginning of the month Indecent Noise started giving away a free track each day right up to Christmas Day. A total of 25 tracks which were a mix of unreleased originals and remixes under his DISCO19 guise as well as Indecent Noise. I thought that was a really nice thing to do and the mix of these tracks just shows how diverse and prolific he is as a producer. So I decided rather than have them sat around waiting to be put in a mix at some point I would just mix the whole lot. 

The mix is basically in 2 parts. A warm up mix of the DISCO19 tracks. Then like a handover it goes into the balls to the wall Indecent Noise mix. That section is not for the faint hearted. From 122bpm to 153bpm I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as enjoyed mixing it. Merry Christmas folks and a big thanks to Indecent Noise for being so generous :)

Cliffy Burrows - Indecent Disco

We’re back for DR096, this time with techie banger Everglide, from Odonbat, supported by a great uplifting remix from the one and only Touchstone.

The original kicks off with a hint of whats to come with little techie gaps and tension builds as plucks filter in to keep the atmosphere slowly rising towards the break. Cinematic fx and drums take it to the pad drop which is filled with emotion with strings breakbeat style percussion. The melody starts to build slowly with lovely chord progressions that bring you towards the main build. As it builds people will be reaching for the sky, before the drop kicks in... and what a drop.... this is one of those tunes you expect to do one thing on the drop and it does completely the opposite, with a dark techie drop that would drive clubbers mental with the driving bass and sharp edgy sounds, before dropping back into the main melody to give this an uplifting end. A tune of many personalities, this cracking original is definitely one for the club!

On remix duties Touchstone does, well, what Touchstone does. If meaty kicks and rolling basslines do it for you then you will love this. Filled with textures and atmosphere this remix build gradually with the melody and pads that fully immerse you into the track, making you want to close your eyes and feel the emotions run through you. Taking you into the break the pads create a real feeling of space, before the melody filters in with lovely key change changes and feeling to keep lifting the tune up to its pure trance climax. As it drop back in fully the keys, pads and melody work perfectly together to give this tune a real feel good feeling. For people who like their trance pure, atmospheric and full of emotion this is the remix for you. Another quality remix from that man Touchstone.

Everglide

Odonbat - Everglide (Original Mix)

For DR097 we bring you a big vocal uplifter from Garry Morrison and SJ Johnson called No More Chances, with supporting remixes from Carlos Martz and Paul Pearson. 

The original gets straight to it with driving basses and ethereal vocal sweeps that build to bring in the vocal. SJ Johnson's vocal lift the tune up a level and the vocal keeps building the feeling in the track, as the intro chord melody builds the track to the break. Glassy pads and vocal pads build the vocal which will have people's hands in the air, before the main melody filters in to its main impact. With a nice uplifting melody it builds up before dropping back in with a proper uplifting vibe that sure to go down well in clubs everywhere. If uplifting and big vocals do it for you, check this out. 

First up on remix duties is Mexican Carlos Martz, giving the track a darker and more techie feel. Touch basses, minimal percussions and psy style sub basses give this remix a chunkiness that will suit those of you who like it a little tougher. Using the vocals and intro plucks to lift the track up the bass really drives this track along all the way to the break. Warm, ducking pads complement the vocal nicely in the break before dropping the track into a dark and dirty acid driven build, before hitting you hard with an acid drop that would simply go off in a club. A nice different take on the original that will cater for those who like it harder, darker and more filthy!

Paul Pearson's remix provides a more pure uplifting remix. Warm basses and nice plucks build the track to the vocal adding real tension to the intro. Keeping things simple and letting the vocal do the talking (so to speak) this remix is definitely one who like their atmospheric trancers that build slowly.
