Sad, questioning phrases weave through that motion, carrying the hope that this will be resolved quickly, yet uncertainty sits heavily underneath. Darker, ominous figures keep surfacing, reminding you that the danger is real and growing. There is a strong feeling of being alone with the threat, which feeds moments of panic in the melodic writing, later eased by brighter harmonies that hint at friendly nations noticing and stepping forward in support.

About the album

Open Aggression is Movement V of Whirl: Ukraine in Sound, an instrumental cinematic and neo classical suite with symphonic metal intensity and Eastern European folk and Balkan colour. Across 15 movements the album follows a journey from peace to war, through loss and mourning, and toward a scarred return to calm, written from the perspective of those living through aggression rather than watching from afar.

With the release of the new single "Vienna Flight", MAROL answers that question with a thunderous leap into the unknown. Produced by Kool Cat Productions, this track is more than a song; it’s a surreal journey. Starting as a melancholic reflection on existence, it explodes into a euphoric anthem as the narrator takes a metaphorical plunge from the highest spire of St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom).

Blending classic piano-driven rock with a theatrical, dreamlike atmosphere, MAROL invites the listener to stop being a spectator and finally become part of the scene. "Vienna Flight" is a tribute to the city, the night, and the overwhelming beauty of letting go.

When I set out to create an album, it’s rarely just a collection of songs. My newest jazz album continues this tradition — short-lined swing tracks, conversational duets, and tongue-in-cheek storytelling. It’s an homage to late-night alleyway ballads, rooftop serenades, and train station goodbyes — all bound together with a sense of charm and cohesion.
