DANILLA - BERDISTRAKSI

Kembalinya unit storytelling-pop Mocca dengan album terbarunya setelah 8 tahun vakum menjadi penajam eksistensi kuartet asal Bandung ini. Keempat personil yaitu pemain gitar Riko Prayitno, penyanyi Arina Ephiphania, pemain bass Toma Pratama dan pemain drum Indra Massad yang tidak pernah berganti sejak 16 tahun memutuskan untuk bermusik bersama ini telah mengeluarkan empat album penuh dengan album terbaru berjudul ‘Home’ (2015). Pada proses pengerjaan album ini semua personil kebagian jatah untuk menulis lagu, tidak terkecuali Indra Massad sang penjaga ritmik Mocca. Maka bertepatan dengan peringatan ulang tahun yang ke-16, pada 4 November 2015 Mocca merilis single terbaru yang berjudul Stars in Your Eyes yang diputar serentak di radio-radio seluruh Indonesia.

Proses memasak single terbaru berjudul ‘Stars in Your Eyes’ di “dapur rumah” Mocca ini melalui beberapa tahap. Indra merekam melodi dengan bersiul sembari memainkan gitarnya dan direkam dengan perangkat seadanya. Selain itu Indra sudah menyiapkan ketukan khusus untuk lagu ciptaannya ini. Setelah lagu ini direspon oleh Riko, Arina bertugas sebagai penulis lirik. Lirik lagu ini mengambil suasana lagu-lagu era 1940-50an. “Dari melodi yang saya tangkap selama proses pembuatan lirik, saya ingin membangun atmosfir yang romantis”, ujar Arina Ephiphania.

Lagu ini juga merupakan salah satu eksperimen Mocca. Salah satu contohnya Arina yang anti efek vokal, “dipaksa” untuk menggunakan efek vokal pada lagu ini sehingga memberikan warna berbeda tanpa kehilangan kekhasannya. Langkah-langkah petikan gitar yang diambil Riko juga lebih berani namun tetap nyaman untuk didengarkan. Mocca selama ini sangat cerdas meramu sebuah konsep rumit dan membuatnya sederhana bergaya Mocca sehingga tidak terkesan pretensius. Mocca akan tetap menjadi Mocca, dan jika anda memiliki kesempatan untuk menyelam ke dalam karya-karyanya bersiaplah untuk terkesima dengan apa yang tidak terlihat di permukaan dari sebuah gunung es bernama Mocca.
