El cierre de Refractor 2023 con @djhighfuture fue uno de los momentos más mágicos que vivimos en esta primera edición. Tras el set de Parallax y como colofón final, High Future puso el broche de cierre con un set de 120 minutos de trance y progressive cargado de sonidos melódicos y baleáricos que hizo de estas dos últimas horas de baile uno de los momentos más recordados de Refractor 2023.

Refractor 2023 closing with High Future was one of the most magical moments we experienced in this first edition. After Parallax's set and as a culmination, High Future put the finishing touch with a 120-minute set diving between old trance and progressive, full of melodic and balearic sounds that made these last two hours of dancing one of the most memorable moments of Refractor 2023.

@mirannolden did his Mana graduation in the west of Germany but is Berlin based since a couple of years already and part of the local Druid order and the Power Play warehouse raves. His mix blends transcendental and celestial Trance bits with goaish and deep soundscapes. Get ready for a planeswalk.

A Trip to the Swamp

In the twilight of a forgotten world, where the dense fog clings to ancient trees and the air is thick with the scent of damp earth, a journey begins. This is a place untouched by time, where the echoes of primal chants still linger among the shadows. The traveler, drawn by an unnameable force, steps into this hidden realm, where the very ground seems to pulse with the memory of rituals long past. As the path winds deeper into the forest, the sounds of the world shift. The whispering winds are replaced by the rustle of leaves and the distant croak of creatures unseen, the swamp’s breath rising in a symphony of organic life. This is no ordinary journey—it is a descent into the heart of the earth, where the boundaries between humanity and nature blur. The traveler becomes one with the wild, each step a dance with the spirits that dwell in the murky depths. Tribal rhythms rise from the shadows, echoing the heartbeat of the earth itself. These sounds, both familiar and alien, weave together in a complex tapestry, guiding the traveler deeper into the underworld of the forest. The journey is relentless, pushing through thick undergrowth, crossing streams that gurgle with ancient secrets, and navigating treacherous bogs where every movement disturbs the peace of the forgotten. Yet, amid the chaos, there is a strange order. The swamp's noises merge with distant, pulsating rhythms, creating a harmony that speaks of ancient wisdom. The traveler is tested, their resolve worn thin by the relentless drive forward. But in this trial, there is also transformation. The deep, resonant chants grow louder, merging with the primal energies of the land, reshaping the very essence of the traveler. As the journey reaches its peak, the traveler emerges from the depths of the forest into a clearing bathed in an uncanny, otherworldly light. Here, the elements of earth, water, and spirit converge, and the traveler stands on the threshold of understanding. The swamp's secrets have been laid bare, its ancient voices now a part of the traveler’s own story. The journey has come full circle, and with it, knowledge and connection with the primal forces that shape the world.

In the sixth episode of our mix series, we're thrilled to feature a mix from Lychee, a key figure in Yerevan's electronic dance scene and the resident DJ for the first queer party series, Princess Diaries. Trough her sets Lychee provides a blend of rapid body music with an emotive touch that keeps clubgoers dancing through dawn. Her sound combines percussion, psychedelia and oldschool nostalgia on top of the clean and pushy grooves.

Known for her impeccable focus and presence behind the decks, she consistently provides suggestive, ever-flowing grooves beneath hypnotizing atmospheres. Sham is an active figure in the Copenhagen scene, and recently launched her own club night series, with the inaugural event held at Den Anden Side.

Embrace The Change

In a world shrouded in shadows, where the boundaries between reality and the unseen waver, a lone traveler begins their journey. The path before them is one of mystery and darkness, twisting through the depths of the mind where thoughts unravel and merge into a distorted maze. Along the way, the traveler encounters visions both haunting and surreal, as if stepping through a veil into a realm where the laws of nature are bent and refracted through a glass darkly. Yet, as the journey continues, the darkness gives way to a spectral light, faint at first, then growing, illuminating a landscape both alien and beautiful. The traveler feels a growing sense of unease, as if walking the edge of madness, with every step echoing in the void, every shadow hiding untold secrets. In this strange land, they confront their deepest fears and wildest dreams, the line between the two blurring with each heartbeat. As the path winds on, there comes a moment of clarity, a sacred road that leads through the heart of the chaos, offering a glimpse of something pure, something holy. The traveler, weary from the journey, feels the warmth of a rising sun, breaking through the night’s grip, filling their soul with light and hope. The air is charged with energy, and the world around them pulses with life, as the traveler crosses vast deserts, climbs towering dunes, and descends into hidden valleys. The descent begins, a return to the familiar, yet nothing is as it was. The air grows colder, the landscape more desolate, as if the world itself is preparing for the end. And then, a storm. It rises from the horizon, a hurricane of sound and fury that sweeps across the land, leaving devastation in its wake. The traveler is caught in its grasp, thrown into a whirlwind of chaos, but even within the storm, there is a strange, chaotic beauty—a testament to the raw, untamed power of the world. And then, as suddenly as it began, the storm subsides. The traveler, battered but unbroken, looks to the skies, where the stars shine brighter than ever. They feel a pull, a gentle yet irresistible force drawing them upward, beyond the confines of the earth, into the vast expanse of the cosmos. The traveler floats weightlessly, carried by the currents of time and space, at peace with the infinite. A journey that leaves the traveler forever changed, their soul touched by the mysteries of the world, their heart filled with the knowledge that in every end, there is a new beginning.

Session 0012 - Dilector

We’re thrilled to introduce Mademoisel (she/her), a London-born now Berlin-based DJ, and part of the Neodyn and Astral Lab collectives.

Having already made her mark in numerous renowned clubs in London and Berlin, she will make her debut on European festival lineups this summer.

Inspired by the freedom of the forest parties where she began djing, she experiments across genres taking twisted turns, mixing rolling psy, punching tribe, 90s trance, hypnotic techno, and beyond.

For this podcast, Mademoisel has chosen to explore old school sounds, blending 90s progressive trance with modern synth-y house bits.

Be prepared to move through a vortex of warping sounds, as her sets are nothing short of power!
