This song is about a time way back in 2017 when I came to play an event in Liverpool knowing that there was someone who I really liked living over that way. I spent the whole night getting steadily drunker and drunker, trying summon the dutch courage to call them and ask if they were around. Eventually I ended up going home with someone else I'd met at the event. This person meant nothing to me but I spent the whole evening trying to make it feel like they did because I was craving a connection, which I suppose we all are. When you try and live with an open heart sometimes the wrong people will try and make their way into it.

Dilettante (pronounced DILL-uh-tont) is the songwriting vehicle of multi-instrumentalist Francesca Pidgeon. Primarily a guitarist and singer but, owing to chronic introversion, she taught herself clarinet, sax and piano and bought a loop pedal in an attempt to avoid human contact.

However, this endeavour ultimately proved futile and she enlisted the aid of bassist Aaron Collins-Wood, drummer Jack Mee and guitarist/vocalist Rachel Rimmer.
