V Recordings Podcast 021 - Featuring Unreal & Bryan Gee - New Years Mixcast

2014 kicks off with another producers competition on the Drum & Bass Arena forum revisiting the popular format of remixing a classic. Following on from previous remix competitions we are now picking up the time period of ’99 to ’03. An era where Shy FX blew up into the UK mainstream with the likes of ‘Shake Ur Body’ and ‘Feelin’ U’, Shimon & Andy C’s ‘Body Rock’ was rewound more times than a backwards waltzer and labels such as Back 2 Basics where revisiting their self-proclaimed classics.

Future Cut - Horns 2000 (Remix)

On the flipside is ‘Music Within’ featuring Podage & LaMeduza. Building slowly and gradually with powerful vocals, once again we’re treated to an education in the art of subtle drum & bass. If you’re looking for rinsed out amens and heavily distorted reese basslines then turn your attentions elsewhere, because this track is as beautiful as it is elegant. It won’t be turning any raves upside down, but that’s not really the point of good music, is it?

Sunchase goes deep in the mix, flaunting a seriously impressive track selection. With a remix of Structural's 'Bone' dropping on the eclectic Art of Deception compilation, as well as a busy touring schedule under his belt, the Ukranian-based producer has a lot to smile about, and this mix has got us smiling too.
