I always wanted to sing and compose Gurbani, and in a form that I feel connected to the most, a form which is meditative, and which helps to get closer to the One. which is away from all the religious, physical or any boundaries and away from any other external stuff. I think thats what music is all about. Thats what Music should be. 

This track is my first step into spiritual journey.

I wrote this song some 4-5 years ago and When we first recorded it for album, we arranged it very differently - added a lot of guitars, drums, synths and what not... you can hear that version on this youtube channel itself. 

So, Why we chose to re-do it? 

When I started my musical journey, I wanted my songs to sound big, huge, loud. But somewhere down the line, I started feeling more connected to simple stuff, minimalist music. Now I have started to believe that a song doesnt need much, it does not need to be loud, it does not need have so many instruments, it does not need perfection, that autotuning of voice, or those extra chimes and claps.  All it needs is a soul. And when I listen to artists like Tracy Chapman, Passenger, Jack Johnson... its not the sound of their song I connect to, its the honesty and truthfulness of the song i am drawn to.

So, For a long time I was thinking, planning and dreaming of doing a series which is not cluttered with too many instruments, something very minimalist and where I am not aiming for perfection. And I found few people around here who believed in my music and this concept. So, we went ahead and shot this live acoustic series. I hope you guys like it.

I think this is one of most haunting poems I have ever heard. Penned by Legendary Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Really felt good how this song came out to be!! Something different from what I have produced earlier, but hope I did justice to the words!!

It has been 9 years since my wife and me wrote this song. Over the years performed this song at Balcony TV and also recorded one half of the song in hindi for Wedding Story. But this is how we both wrote and composed this song... mix of punjabi, hindi, english.. Hope you guys like it.!!
