Dimensions Recordings’ fifth release sees the label step into the world of the longplayer with Istanbul native, KEREM AKDAG’s self titled debut album.

Kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of Gilles Peterson through his previous output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his Getdownsoclose offering on Dimensions’ debut release. His debut album however, sees Kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs.

Across eight tracks Kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. From the stepping beats of When I Think Of You to his subtle vocal layers on Isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of Sultan to the squelching, rasping synths of Unite it’s clear that there’s very little that’s outside of Kerem’s arsenal. The album rounds out fittingly with Drums Please, which perfectly displays Kerem’s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that’s more powerful than its parts.

Kerem Akdag’s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!

Neroli record founder Volcov returns with the second volume of compilation series ‘From The Archive’ on BBE Music.
It’s been a busy two years for Enrico Crivellaro (Volcov) since the release of ‘From The Archive Vol. 1’. His Neroli label has seen stellar releases from Dego (2000 Black), Lars Bartkuhn, Trinidadian Deep and Alton Miller among others, leading to a hectic schedule of DJ sets across the globe.
In ‘From The Archive Vol. 2’, Volcov’s musical roots are once again evident in a jazzy collection of hidden gems spanning genres and continents. As Volcov puts it: “the spirit and the sound of this album follows the first volume: choosing more songs that i thought were overlooked and deserved more attention. This time, with such a crowded marketplace for reissues and compilation of 70s-80s music, I decided only to focus on songs from the last 10-15 years.”
‘From The Archive Vol. 2’ features several tracks never before released on vinyl, including ‘Afterlife Vol.2’ by ‘Black Renaissance’ composer and Roy Ayers collaborator Harry Whitaker and Ron Trent’s homage to French violin genius Jean-Luc Ponty, ‘Ori Space’. Taking in intimate downtempo soul, extraterrestrial jazz sounds and straight up club music, ‘From The Archive Vol. 2’ paints a vibrant and eclectic musical picture, autographed with a couple of signature edits by Volcov himself.

Astral Black step back in the ring with the 5th instalment of their 'Frass FM' compilation series. The UK label follow up Xao's critically acclaimed 'Eternal Care Unit' LP with these 16 exclusive tracks from some of the most exciting names in British club music, both this decade and last.

Illusive Astral Black OG, DJ Milktray turns in the skippy club bubbler Instinct, his first release for 4 years. Tiff's Joints label-head Poison Zcora (FKA Born Cheating) takes the Frass FM opportunity to make his production debut with the gloriously bounce-strapped, broken stomper, 'Victory Over The British Museum'. Rinse FM/6-Figure Gang's Jossy Mitsu brings us the second of our production debuts with the breaks-laden 'Whirl', whilst elsewhere fellow Rinse FM resident, Izco, handles intro duties with deep chords and rolling percs. Maxwell Owin (South London Jazz scene's answer to Rick Rubin) teams up with Anurah on the fittingly titled 'TOI 700 d', named after our closest habitable planet; and long-term Astral Black affiliate & Co-op/Soulection member Sivey reimagines Dave Gruisin's 'Modaji' into a holy-spirit capturing 160-bpm foot-work roller.

If that's not enough, the compilation boasts equally as note-worthy contributions from the likes of multi-genre Team Sesh producer hnrk, Grime 2 wonder-kid Polonis, label mainstays Creep Woland, Xao, F17, Shy One & Impey, new school squad members Bruised Skies & Thugwidow, legendary UK rap producer/mastering mastermind, Telemachus and 616/Swamp81 affiliate, Sumgii.

The free download compilation not only acts as an audio snapshot of UK club music in 2020 but marks what looks set to be an exciting year for the Astral Black label. Junglist Creep Woland is set to follow hot on the heels of Frass with his 'Chamberlain' EP, followed by 'Requiem For a Sesh' - the collaborative project from Bruised Skies & Thugwidow shortly after.

Selectors Assemble are back in 2021 with another dopetastic premiere, this time featuring the CoOp Presents artist Sivey and his remix for Nikitch & Kuna Maze – the track titled 46 RUE DU FORT was orginally released on Nikitch & Kuna Maze’s first collaborative album titled ‘Debuts’ (on Tru-Thoughts records). The release also includes a remix from Crafty 893 and will be aviable to buy on January 14th.
