Bush drums are rumbling, hazy mist is sparkling and art (real life art!) is on the wind. Shell Tape 91 comes from Hame DJ. Cruise up this smoky mountain, spread your wings and tune in to Hame’s acid tinged “My Life Is My Art, My Art Is My Life”.

The vibe for the 91st Tape is a decidedly funky one - rubbery, woozy seesaw sound runs deep through this mix. Chuggy kicks, lysergic synth sequences and dubbed out percussion and vocal fragments that echo off into the infinite are all on the ingredients list for this hour long concoction of down tempo house and techno that melds the organic with the otherworldly.

Stepping out like a slightly sedated but very stylish Flubber on a moon walk, Hame arcs from modulating pad to modulating pad, tracing melodies that ooze steeze and psychedelia. Throw in a couple of unreleased tracks, some deep cut classics and high vibes and you’ve got Shell Tape 91.

The mix is a 3 hour voyage through ambient electronics, chuggy, percussive goodness packed with character, oddities and surprises from the furthest corners of her collection. A masterclass in selection and technical know-how. We were delighted to welcome Jaye to Dimensions this summer and are excited to present this recording for anyone that might have missed a slice of the action on-site – enjoy.

What's in a name? That might be a good question to ask Brian Piñeyro aka DJ Python.  As well as recording one of 2017's most coveted albums in Dulce Compania, the inaugural release on Anthony Naples and Jenny Slattery's Incienso label, Piñeyro also records as DJ Wey, Deejay Xanax and Luis.  All guises which have a particular aesthetic direction without ever being too rigid.  Under his DJ Python moniker however, and in particular on the album, he demonstrates an ability to create a sonic world that's engulfing.

For his Dimensions mix, Piñeyro repeats the task of creating a musical world to get lost in, and further demonstrates his ability to suck the listener into a place that is so comfortable it's hard to switch off, whilst simultaneously retaining an air of mystery and a diversity in form.  Here Python provides low slung and deep sounds that will demonstrate just why he's become so well travelled in the last year as he continues to bring his DJ and live sets to an ever growing audience.

Advice for the DJs, artists and producers of our community: You don't need to define yourself by just one sound/identity/process. Keep exploring, take risks and be open to changes. Don't focus negative thoughts on what you haven't achieved but how you will get there. Set your goals and never tell yourself you're not capable of getting what you want. Have respect/kindness for yourself and acknowledge what you've accomplished. Face your fears. Always be an uplifting ally.
