Redefining techno and the pace at which it can be played

We met @KyleToole on the road back in the early days of The Ghost, something about his chirpy bubblin' vibe sparked an instant connection.

Little did we know, young Kyle was a hidden gem of a DJ. Bout time for a Ghostcast wethinks.

To keep the Bonanza cauldron bubbling, we are thrilled to drop the full 3 hours of XDB's glorious Sunday morning slot from Bonanza back in March. 

Anyone who has heard XDB knows that these after-hours moments are where he shines brightest, and this is on full display for Rio 005, as he weaves his way effortlessly through the deepest of deep house, ambient techno, electro, acid and tech house. The music XDB plays is always hard to put your finger on, but is consistently interwoven with a certain intangible feeling and emotion. For many this was an absolute highlight of the festival, so we couldn't be happier to share this with you as the 5th instalment of our mix series.

Bringing a little slice of jungle sunshine in these winter months, next up we have a chunk of Vera's set from Bonanza 2024.

Recorded deep on the Sunday night, Vera took us on a proper trip deep into her acidic vortex. Unhurried, classy and psychedelic, Vera artfully guided our weary feet through the witching hour of the last night of the festival.

This mix was recorded live at Hoppetosse Berlin on Sunday, at the unofficial "New Kids On Acid" after hours, where I spontaneously and totally unexpectedly accepted to take over the party. I didn't have my records with me, as I wasn't booked for the party, so I ended up playing for 8 hours from my USB key I had in my wallet. We finished at 1pm on Monday. Despite some sloppy mixes I decided to upload the whole recording, only the last 3 h are missing- unfortunately the recorder stopped earlier then the party :)

Nicolas Lutz comes to us from Uruguay via Berlin and we believe he's on the move somewhere new as we speak, where to we don't quite know but that pretty much sums Nicolas up. He's an enigma, outside of the mainstream, nonconformist. This sentiment also perfectly sums up his DJing, always outsider, never predictable.  

Lutz's sets are immaculately programmed and include music that he has lovingly sought out, music will inevitably become hunted by an increasing numbers of his dedicated, record digging fans. Nicolas first played for us at our off Sonar event in Barcelona in 2017 and his attention to detail and ear for strange, memorable sounds stood out that day. Here he delivers a very rare recorded mix that takes in ambient sounds along with house, breaks, electro and techno but it's not the genres, it's  the underlying texture and detail on display that is the defining feature of episode 114. So ahead of his appearance at Fort Punta Christo for Dimensions 2018, sit back and lose yourself in two hours of Nicolas Lutz...
