An avid digger, Thorgerdur ensures that every time she steps up to the decks she has only the finest cuts in her record bag and her mix for our InSession series is no different. Having scoured the best record stores wherever she travels, her mix is jam-packed with hard-to-find gems and forgotten bangers. This week we welcome Cap to the mix series. Schooled in the world of Romanian minimal and house, these-days you'll often find him behind the scene's most revered booths and parties from Club Guesthouse to NYC's ReSolute and Amsterdam's VBX but to name a few.

A hypnotic DJ, he possess depth, groove and impressive musical breadth, sliding between house, techno, minimal and plenty more with mischievous ease.  He spins at Dimensions for the first time this summer, and if this classy 80 minutes is anything to go by, we're in for a serious treat.

By now, OTIS and Paul Lution should be well-known names, and perhaps if you have not caught them performing in solo mode or collectively, then you will have undoubtedly caught some of their studio output in recent months. Being part of the Outcast Torino extended family, both artists have been in high demand and with their powerful audio creations speaking volumes at the moment this is surely only going to grow and grow. Collectively, this duo combine their love of electronics, dancefloor knowledge and even instruments to form an outrageous live act called Punky and The Brain. Perhaps the 90s cartoon reference may be lost on some, their madcap sets fuse electric guitar, live synths, and vocoded vocals into something akin to a rock performance rather than an electro pairing.

For those that do remember the cartoon from the mid 90s, the opening track from their InSessions recording is a timely reminder before they launch into the main section of their set. With their sound sitting in the sweet spot between Italo, nu school electro, acid, and breaks OTIS and Paul quickly move the gears in order to present their full spectrum in quick succession. With the pair performing in safety specs and white lab coats there is a clear case of style and substance, not just one over the other.

Punky & The Brain (live) - Trommel InSession 148

Barcelona-based artist Tunik, is a true master of synth-based music. So much so that the Argentinian is often one of the first artists that springs to mind when in need of a large dose of darkness. His productions and DJ sets speak to a higher power that sees his performances at the likes of Les Enfants Brillants, OUTPUT, and Razzmattaz in his adopted Barcelona, as well as a regular slew of the finest parties around the world. 

Being an in-demand artist doesn't stop Tunik from pursuing his own vision of electronic music. This was born in the shape of the Synth City project, and what followed was an evocative series of events at LEB. We are yet to even mention Tunik’s productions that only appear on labels that are at the vanguard of the underground. His longstanding connection to Dekmantel speaks volumes of the progression of his sound, as does his EP’s for Nicolas Lutz’ My Own Jupiter imprint and Further Electronix.

Tunik is without doubt a true force to be reckoned and we are thrilled to welcome him to our InSession podcast series. A self-confessed genre hopper, we are guided through a cosmic selection that all share an unspoken connection through the ethereal. Lush soundscapes soon give way to enticing breakbeats, mystic synths, and an unwavering groove that is as relentless as his own journey deep into the farthest reaches of his record bag. A sonic trip to truly induce a disconnect, we are certain that after one listen, you will be seeking out the Argentinian wherever possible.
