The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from The AM. The project of Detroit-based artist Ann-Marie Teasley (also half of HLX-1), The AM has become of the Detroit and perhaps America’s most exciting DJs across the electro and techno spectrums. The raver turned techno upstart kicked off her entrance as a DJ on NTS radio in 2019, then began playing at various clubs around Detroit making a mark by showcasing her dexterity in mixing sounds and genres. She also co-runs UNDERGROUND AND BLACK podcast series and is set to drop a lot more in 2022.

New Brvtalism No. 306 - The AM

On Oct 6th 2021, about 2 years after my last set in London, I played from open to close (11pm to 5am) at Village Underground in Shoreditch. Here's a recording of the whole night with a bit of the crowd noise. 

Perhaps a full tracklist at some point... some unreleased stuff in here. 

Even though it had been a while, we had all night so no use in rushing things! I came across a lot of lovely music this year, but it mostly lived in my rekordbox or in a radio mix. I actually record a lot of my sets but it always feels like they're in a constant state of iteration, making it hard to pick just one "version" to release. Over the years I feel like this has led me to only very sparingly drop live-recorded sets. A "party" doesn't often lend itself to the archivable realm, maybe the memories are best suited to the ephemeral. 

Anyway, eternal gratitude crystals to those who came and those who danced, and to those listening now.

A Psychic Yes is the alias of British, Berlin based artist, carpenter and DJ, Timothy Crombie. Timothy has released records on some of the most interesting and out there labels at the moment, most recently Nummer's self titled imprint and the ever impressive, ear to the ground; Kalahari Oyster Cult. His music touches off blends of percussive UK techno stylings with a nod to DIY bleep and yet has an air of leftfield ambient if that makes any sense? Either way, its with these stylings too that Timothy constructs sets, be it live or DJ, with these inspirations in mind and takes Off The Record 38 into similar patterns.

Closing out the NYE takeover at Nowadays, No Sir took the reigns and delivered a pummeling bass and techno workout to the sweating masses. Re-live the magic.

Live from NYE 2024: No Sir

Had to put another one up from this party as it's equally as good as the Stingray set but for obviously very different reasons.

I don't think Answer Code Request had played in London prior to this party but already had a residency at Berghain and a number of releases on Dettman's MDR and his own self entitled label as well as an excellent LP on Osgut Ton so was more than on the rise at this point.

It's another hypnotically driven techno set but really unique to what was being heard around the time, Patrick definitely had his own carefully curated sound and the Corsica crowd lapped it up during his headline set on the night.
