Reggae Classics

Not a song about a show, but about showing emotion. I'm a shy person, and this song tries to express some of the frustrations of that when it comes to interacting with a woman you like...so it's fun but it's from the heart too. When I wrote it a few years ago, and performed it playing the breakbeat on cajon with an acoustic guitar player - I always had the cowbell part, shaker part, backing vocals and horn line in my head. Years later, with The Bridge the song has finally found its full expression, which has been a real joy. Martin came up with a blinding bass line that just makes the tune and now it's a band favourite. Paul is on trombone this time, with Martin on trumpet as well as bass (not at the same time!). The recording just clicked - Charlie was on fire on drums and Georgia's backing vocal harmonies make me smile - just gorgeous (she nailed them in one take too). Sam Heston does some nice guitar licks to embellish.     Jon, May 2021
