My bed In Black Rock City last year was practically on the DISTRIKT dance floor, so I was awakened by many of the opening sets, that are unjustly less attended than the closing sets, at dawn. The awakenings were always pleasant and often made me feel energized, and wishing for stronger playa WIFI so that I could shazam from my pillow what was being played. The opening sets defined DISTRIKT for me in 2016, and if my taste is any indication, some of those openers will eventually be playing the closing sets. I am so grateful for the entire DISTRIKT team for once again giving me the amazing Thursday sunset slot, and I hope that you enjoy listening and dancing and reminiscing to this one!

New Beginnings

GrowthNDepth is Growth In Depth as well as Growth & Depth. It is an exploration of personal growth, personal meaning, and heartfelt expression. This mix was inspired by heartbreak, defeat, triumph, and the transmutation of pain in to art.
GrowthNDepth is a mix that has been 3 years in the making and I was blessed by the local DMV crew re:magine to play it live for one of the best nights of music of 2017. 
I've put so much thought and feeling and a lot of tears in to making this and I hope it effects you emotionally as it did for me through the entire creation experience.
I truly appreciate you going on this journey with me and granting me your ears and hearts for this hour long exploration of what it means to be a Lover in a world filled with so much strife.

San Diego born, the community of the dance floor surrounded me at a younger age.
It was normal for house parties to have decks at the command of the music selection. It took me a year or two of observing  the rekordbox patterns until finally I purchased my own controller in the Spring of 2017. 

From here, I was hooked. To be a good DJ you of course need skills, but what I have learned over the last 8 years is that if you want to be a respected DJ, you need tracks. My knowledge of artists stemmed from attending festivals and shows to expand my horizons in the various sub genres of dance music. I enjoy them all and keep an open mind! However, I realized there were simply too many DJs and labels to keep track of new music. I hated the feeling of coming across a banger track and realizing it was released months ago. I wished there was a page that I could follow to give me release updates. In the Summer of 2020, H&TR was born. 

I am now addicted to digging deeper and deeper into the underground to discover every new release across house and techno, and have been doing it for over 150 weeks straight now. I am committed to this mission not only for myself and DJ ability, but I have a passion for sharing good music with others. I love introducing a new artist to a friend that I think they would enjoy. Not just this, but what an incredible feeling it is to “ID” a track when others send me a video. Hence a friend coining me the name “DavID”
