Dion Palumbo Releases Single ‘This Thing’
Dion showcases energy and gravitas in this great new acoustic single. 
His dynamic background of musical experience shows in meaningful lyrics, catchy hooks and driving, well constructed arrangements.
The beginnings of Dion’s diverse collection of achievements and experience were conceived in the isolation of Perth, Western Australia, developed in Sydney and Melbourne and then some more on his arrival in Liverpool UK – city of his familial roots. 
Now based in London, Palumbo is a regular performer showcasing his original   material on the live circuit. 
He has been supported on the airwaves with “Try it Out” on BBC Introducing, and has regular rotation on various digital and broadcast radio outlets globally – including track “Get It Right” charting at number 1 for 6 weeks on http://www.fortheloveofmusic.info  
Most recently he was invited for a 3 hour radio interview on the Australian Spectrum Music Show retracing a good proportion of his catalogue up until now. (Jan 2017)
In 2014, his self produced EP “Rock the Funk” won best 'Jazz/Funk/Fusion’ EP 
in the US - based Independent Music Awards.
This talented artist also performed at the London Paralympics Olympic Village in 2012, and is a regular performer in European cities such as Vienna, Berlin Geneva, Paris, among others.
Dion draws inspiration from various platforms such as David Bowie, Radiohead, Stone Roses, Arthur Lee and Love, James Brown et al, in terms of vocal projection and passionate performances and is not afraid to step outside the boundaries of ‘THIS THING’ or any other!

Dawn is Rising (Rock the Funk)

My Mum, Ann Palumbo recorded my Grandad, Matty Keegan (pictured with my Nan - Mary Kelly) singing this classic in 2001 a year before he passed away.
Grandad came over from Perth to visit us in Sydney for 10 days, even at the age of 82 Matty bought us a bottle of whiskey every night in that week where this was recorded, and we couldn't keep up!
They made them tough in Liverpool in those days, also pictured here as a young man on the Albert Dock in 1935, perhaps unaware that in the next decade he would become a young Sgt Major at 23 y/o for the British (Merchant) Navy, leading the Gurkha Soldiers in India and fighting for a cause that I believe was the last war worth fighting for.
Hold on who caused these wars anyway? Most of the population of the world wants a nice life, not to be roped into fighting battles for megalomaniac rulers of all countries drunk with power.
Ironically now my sweetheart is from East Berlin. 
"Don't mention the war !!!"
And my Grandad never did, never went to ANZAC Day marches.
He was there and his motto was "Best We Forget"

We must pay tribute to this generation, pre the luxurious technology we have today, they worked hard to give us the relatively easier life we have today. Perhaps the fact that today we can push buttons in order to achieve what we physically desire has a direct correlation to rising levels of depression, metal health and addiction problems, but thats another story....

My Nan Mary put a stop to Mattys seafaring gallabanting in the 60s where they immigrated to Perth, Australia with my mum Ann, Aunty Christine, Uncles John and Paul.  
Perth was the 1st stop on the ship after a month at sea. Beach? Sun? Land Ho - that'll do! - probably a reason why there are many Brits established in Perth to this day. 


We played a family gig @ The Vanguard in Sydney 2014
Mum played the 2001 recording of Matty singing "Smile A While" onstage and we played and sang along, with special guests Rosie McDonald and Inge Courtney-Haentjes, which resulted in this recording.

Temporary Stone

London based singer songwriter guitarist Dion Palumbo is the driving force behind award winning 7 piece funk rock group “Palumbo”. He is also guitarist for Bengali folk star “Shapla Salique”.
Solo, he performs inspired folk jazz blues rock, telling engaging and humorous stories about life, love and the Universe.

Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, he has travelled a long way performing music living in Sydney, Liverpool (UK), Manchester and London, as well as performing in Dublin, Galway, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Geneva and Paris. Notably performing at London 2012 Paralympics - 2 hours of his own original material.
And … as well as playing pubs, clubs and festivals, Palumbo also conducts therapeutic music sessions in dementia homes and mental health centres in North London.

July 2013 his song "Try it Out" received airplay on BBC Introducing from Gary Crowley who described Palumbo and the Funk as “a musical powerhouse” 
In 2014, Palumbo's self produced EP, "Rock the Funk” won the 'Jazz/Funk/Fusion EP' section of the 13th Independent Music Awards (IMAS) -

In 2017 Palumbo recorded "This Thing" based in the renown Berwick St Studios (Bowie, Sex Pistols) in Soho, London. 
Recording commenced the morning after the legendary artist David Bowie's passed away.
Ironically, "This Thing" is definitely influenced by and a tribute to the work of the late great songwriting master
