Dionysian Mysteries

Damaskin is a producer and DJ that we having been keeping our eye on at DM for some time now. He has released EPs on labels such as Unknown Precept, Concrete Records and some tracks on Semantica and 10 label. The title of this mix is called 'Evidence', the reason being is because it is a testament of what influenced Damaskin throughout the years. Many tracks in this mix are from the 90's . This mix features many raw percussive cuts which gets to the essence of what really techno is.

Nightshade #3 - Damaskin - Evidence

Born and educated in Rome, the young Italian producer  Luigi Tozzi  was strongly influenced by the roman scene and its local artists, many of whom gave a crucial contribution to the birth and growth of the deep techno sound. Luigi’s music has so far been released on the established label  Dynamic Reflection  as well as setting a regular cooperation with the very promising and mysterious techno label  Hypnus Records  from Sweden, where he found a platform that inspired him to develop his style. Melting the tribal and hypnotic elements of techno with the atmospheric and emotional side of ambient music he is making his own path in the world of electronics. Recently this has gotten him in contact with  Dino Sabatini  which led to the opportunity to join  Outis Music  that has released well known artists such as  Modern Heads ,  Brando Lupi ,  Donato Dozzy  among others.

Nightshade #6 - Luigi Tozzi

DJ and producer Andrea Ferlin is one of the founders of SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL. It was in 2008 that Andrea, alongside Francesco Assenza, brought the label to life with the release of tracks as duo Dunkle Dummies and with the launch of the SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL nights.

While moving to Berlin and establishing SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL represent the latest chapter in Andreas decade long career, his impressive and extensive background in electronic music have made him a familiar name on the international club circuit. Equally as prolific in the studio as playing live, in between sharing line ups with techno legends like Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola or regular guest appearances at Circoloca @DC-10 in Ibiza, Andrea found time to craft his production skills and has released his own material since 2006 on groundbreaking labels Freak n'Chic, Mindshake and Leftroom.

These days, with SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL and Berlin, Andrea is part of two unique communities, one specific and the other general, both dedicated to moving electronic music ever forward. And in Berlin Andrea has really discovered and shaped his sound, producing a signature apparent in all his tracks and performances, something seeming to sway effortlessly between the beat machine and the snake charmer.

Look for patterns within the over ten year career of Andrea, a strong theme emerges in his commitment to artistic collaboration. Indeed, Andrea's earliest successes were in partnership with Dusty Kid between 2002-2006.
Together, as Duoteque, they released 5 records for the German label Boxer Sport and appeared on compilations from Minus, Systematic and Crosstown Rebels.

More accolades followed for his next partnership with Matteo Spedicati. The 2007 and 2008 working with Matteo as “Clarissa Haze Duo” Andrea found an astonishingly different angle to create electronic tracks from inside his own music. Today, in many ways SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL offers Andrea the oppertunity to transform his professional attitude towards artistic collaboration into a way of life. Whether in the studio, party, or living room he shares the decks with friends, DJs, newcomers whom inspire him towards constant new projects and experiments.

Lately, in 2010 he joined forces with Daniele Papini to release the “Club Mio” EP, and teamed up with new talent, Sardinian DJ Alessio Mereu releasing 3 acclaimed EPs on SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL as DUM.

2011 will see the DUM tour travel accross Europe showcasing their music flavour as well as the return of some past collaborations; Dunkle Dummies are back with new EP Detox released on Toys For Boys Records; Clarissa Haze Duo will be bringing out new material. To top off this year Andrea will release his new solo project, Sunny Charles, on SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL.

"Electric Indigo works as musician, composer and DJ. Her name stands for the intelligent interpretation of techno and electronic music.

She started her DJ career in 1989 in Vienna and worked at the legendary Hard Wax record store in Berlin from 1993 to 1996. In 1998, she created female:pressure, an international database for female artists in the fields of electronic music and digital arts which got an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2009. In 2012, she received the 'oustanding artist award' in the category Computer Music and the national grant for composition 2013 from the Austrian Ministry for Arts and Culture."

Here we are - the third and final chapter of the joint compilation between Tracklistings and Division Virtuel Records is out now!

After two powerful volumes that sparked great feedback and brought together a vibrant community of electro lovers, this last part closes the circle with another sharp and eclectic selection of tracks.

This final volume is the culmination of a project that started months ago with a simple idea:  highlight a wide spectrum of contemporary electro. 

Once again, the selection features artists from various backgrounds, styles and energies, all signed by the same conviction and a love for electro.

Huge thanks to everyone who submitted tracks, shared the releases, or supported the project along the way.
We’re proud to wrap this compilation on a high note, and grateful to have shared this journey with all of you.

Division Virtuel, based in Lyon and run by Atix, is a label that has been active for over 15 years. After several evolutions, it is now clearly focused on electro and electro-techno.
