CHXPO - BVNDGXD [PROD BY OOGIEMANE]

Back at it... This is my new track titled "Where Do We Go From Here?" This record serves as the beginning of a series of releases in 2017. Every month I'm doing something new. Every release will be self-released and free. Every release with a story and a purpose. You can read about my creative process with this track below.

A lot of the new music I’ve been writing is going back to my roots and music I have loved since I was a kid. I noticed textures, sounds and the feeling I got from music I enjoy to listen to found in NIN, Depeche Mode, Deftones, Beach House, My Bloody Valentine, and Slowdive weren’t in anything I was doing. 

I started to explore new tempos, new sounds and textures and tried to incorporate that into my work. I was also faced with the challenge of writing music that will connect without vocals or a vocal hook of any kind. To make something heavy, personal, and still human without human elements. 

I left "Where Do We Go From Here" purposefully minimal, cavernous, this is the beginning of a longer process. I wanted to set out and define what HXV is and sounds like once and for all; not as a reaction to the project's environment, but something separate from EDM, separate from traditional festival music. Something that stands on its own.

“This EP marks the first steps in a longer story I'm trying to tell. My goal is to define what HXV is and sounds like once and for all. I went back and pulled from my inspirations and been writing music that's electronic in nature and rooted in trap elements but has textures of shoegaze, metal, and dark wave. This EP is about leaving what’s familiar and pushing off into the unknown, embracing the fear and the discomfort of trying new things.  Those moments, those steps that you take into the unknown where you are finding yourself and where you fit into the world that's the art. The music is the artifact, the ashes of the art itself. The art is the process. When all this is done and all the elements are out this will become the definitive guide for HXV.”

Playing drums by the age of 8, Clayton Hicks aka "Dioxin One" was primed and ready to fire off a batteries of rhythm later as a young adult. Already producing his own tracks on FL Studio by the age of 15, Dioxin has continued to hone his talents and sculpt his vision of beats and bass. He was given the name "Diox" to tag by a fellow street artist, thus birthing "DJ Dioxin." In late 2009 Dioxin's first exposure to the sub-genre of "Dubstep" left an indelible impression and has thus influenced much of his output today. "I heard the wobble synth and in my head I went...
