An arrangement of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's song from The Little Mermaid. Thought it would be fun to turn it into something resembling a hopeful, Kenji Ito-like battle theme. Not sure how the idea came to me, but I'd like to think that it works out! I took a bunch of liberties during the arrangement, including omitting a minor part of the original ("I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty..." etc.).

The Little Mermaid - Part Of Your World (Arrangement by Ario Barzan)

This is a preview for an album to be released sometime in 2024 entitled EMPAZZO. It is a follow-up to my 2013 album, VURGON (https://ubiktune.com/releases/ario-vurgon), and one which I consider to be much more substantial.

It is likely that a couple or several of these tracks will be excluded from the final release, but the track total will likely be around twenty -- similar to my 2021 release, MAGNO (https://ariomusic.bandcamp.com/album/magno). If you have followed my work over the years, some of the pieces here will be familiar. Others, you will likely have never heard at all.

Stranger Dance

not really sure where this fits into the "canon" of dance music sound. and, uhh . . . yeah. it took me a few days, but i'm pretty happy with the results, insofar as a bedroom producer with a luke-warm music program can be happy.

Stattertek

Vurgon is the first track off of the titular album. Although it may seem disparately conceived, almost all of the composition is united by a couple of core melodic forms.

In my opinion, Vurgon's biggest weakness was the mixing quality, and it's one of the reasons I'm touching up these tracks. Unfortunately, some of the raw files have been lost forever, so it's a touch-up I'll never be able to fully complete. In any case, enjoy!

"honeycomb" is one of my favorite songs that i have produced. done while in new york city. lo-fi fuzz and crackling for texture/ambience. the beat is not complex, but i am in love with the vulnerability of the melody and the quiet quality i got out of the instruments leading it along.

Purple Space Twirl

An arrangement of Michiru Yamane’s “Jail of Jewels”, from Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin’s soundtrack. I’d like to think that this pretty spontaneously conceived arrangement coaxes out some of the latent and more interesting musical possibilities lurking within. The ensemble has traits which remind me of some of Yellow Magic Orchestra’s music, which I guess is about as appropriate as you can get, since YMO kind of was “videogame music” before videogame music.

A track that I began last year as an entry point into working with videogame soundfonts and never finished because, for some reason, importing any soundfonts into the music program made the files explode to an enormous, and eventually program-freezing, size. So, enjoy this eternal WIP!
