Direct Y, aka Fabrizio Rega, has forged a unique musical sound from language of machines. It’s a language the artist knows intricately, translating it for the dystopian club land of Italy through tech-hybrid tracks that range from Electro to four to the floor Techno. Making his initial mark in 2006 with the aptly titled Human Vs Computer, Direct Y cemented the ideas behind his music within the bowels of the no-copyright project, Audioresistance.

It was through this project where his abstract view of the dance floor was first established, taking its cues from the underground rave scene of Rome and classic science fiction novels. Nodezero followed in 2008 and alongside AHK, Direct Y has been using the outlet to deliver the subterranean sounds of Europe’s nightlife to the world including that of the collective’s two remaining members. 

The project, re-launched in 2012 as the independent label Nodezero Electronics, has been a nurturing environment for both AHK and Direct Y, allowing the latter the freedom to mature and develop his artistry since 2012, and leading to the seminal EP, Electric Sheep.

Direct Y continues to be a staple in Rome’s underground electronic scene while his work persistently finds new avenues of exploration in the realm of the 4/4 beat, decoding the language of machines.
