it s a hard plastic 80 liter jerry can named after alexander yanchulev mayor of sofia for the period 1991 1995 not because he invented it but because this notoriously shitty period of bulgaria s prehod was marked among other things by water supply regimes leaving many people without running water for specific time periods the white translucent container has a filling hole sealable with an insulated red plastic screw cap and a red plastic spout also screwable and insulated which can be used to tap the liquid contents the container is build to last and withstand strong mechanical impact and can furthermore serve as a pleasantly sounding acoustic body when empty combined with its bouyant properties it can provide recreational entertainment for single or collective use as a flotation toy projectile or a ball replacement for water sports as it is relatively lightweight when not filled and even has the tactile features of the surface of a vintage pedal boat upon contact with naked skin the long history of its use the difficulty to clean it thoroughly via the two narrow openings and the insufficient knowledge of the stability of its constituent polymers however make it inadvisable to use it for storing drinking water which however still leaves the possibility to use it as sea water reservoir for washing camping dishes and utensils this way the routine of filling up dish washing sea water can be combined with physical exercise in the form of a naked plastic bull ride in the water and subsequent heavy weight lifting as the filled container is brought back to the camp all this makes it a perfect companion during prolonged lazy pastimes amidst the summer heat it is perhaps the effects of years long rough handling that are made audible through the oscillations of air escaping beneath the cap jumping between various limit cycles just like cicada extratone counter balancing the natural sound textures of the desolate beach
