Memory is one of our greatest gifts; it gives us access to time, to identity, to dreams. Guided by the wisdom of Jackson Sonnanfeld-Arden, discoverer of the Nine Pure Tones, I created 1979 as a concept album through which I could share his brilliant theory, and my life-long infatuation with memory.

'Bone' is the first taste of Ben Chatwin's brand new album 'Drone Signals', to be released on September 14th.

Using the final element of July's 'Staccato Signals' - recording a string quartet - as a starting point, Ben fed the strings through an array of modular synthesisers and utilised modern sampling and granular synthesis to remould the material into new microscopic electronic textures. 

"With 'Bone' I removed everything but the string quartet part from 'Fossils' and started to record new parts around it. Unlike most of the other tracks on 'Drone.' this too became a thickly textured track as I again engulfed the strings with a variety of synthetic textures allowing the strings to rise above it all for a brief moment towards the end of the track, resulting in what is probably the most dramatic moment on the album." - Ben Chatwin

Hakobuneにより即興的に紡がれたギタードローンは、早旦の大気、陽光の中へと踏み出そうとしている張り詰めた想念のように硬質で透明である。 環境音を過剰なまでに加工し有形化されたPleqのパルス音が、薄い網膜、或いは全身を走る神経回路のように繊細に全体を覆うことで、お互いの共鳴する音の粒子は少しずつ加速していき、やがて固有の瑞々しい色が照らし出され始める。

部屋の明かりを少し落として、ただどっぷりと彼らの音が生み出す振動に身を浸して頂きたい！

Where Are You Now?

This is the music I composed for the scene from Black Mirror: Striking Vipers - which I call 'I love this, I love you'. 

It is a short piece of music, but one that for me has a lot of emotional depth.

This could be developed and extended but for now I am sharing the work as it is heard on film. 

I am sure we will release an official EP at some point with a selection of works from the episode.
