The long awaited debut EP of Ali McK and IYZ finally arrives on the prestigious In:Flux Audio. This one has three original tracks that fully showcases everything we love about the pair, from the dark steppa vibes of title track 'Shugendo' to the deep rolling subs of 'The Worm', whilst the third original track sees them pair up with label regular Fork and Knife for a Funky-Grime-Dubstep hybrid entitled 'Lemongrab'.

Remix wise this time round there is one one stalwart and one label newcomer, 1point5 and Majoriti respectively. Majoriti gives the collab 'Lemongrab' a rework, taking the original basses and giving them a superb flip into a Grimier affair - 3am skankout vibes - this one is a wicked way to close out a stellar EP.

Title track 'Santana' sees him arcing back to his early grime sounds as he teams up with the talented Charlie Dax on vocals, the pair complimenting each other to create a right earworm of a track to kick off the EP. The B-side to the release, 'Delight', sees J. Kong bringing more of his recent production vibes to the EP - a much more stripped back affair that showcases the producers love for sound design and keeping the listener engaged throughout. Stellar work!

On remix duty we bring through man like Dunman to tackle 'Delight'. The producer has been on absolute fire this past year, and here is no exception, as he takes the track and flips it into UK Garage hybrid, with the smoothest intro you'll hear this year before the 2nd drop breaks out in the best way possible."

What better way to heat things up for the return of club season than the first official single of 2022 and the first official Dubstep single for the label. Sketchi makes an appearance on 1Forty for the first time in three years after two successive BSS appearances (1FBSS003/1FBSS004) see’s him return to channel his earlier 140 influences with a record ready to make shockwaves across the dubstep scene.

1Forty has featured a selection of artists on the Label from its home in Leeds and Sketchi is part of those very grassroots. Starting off his journey learning to mix and produce at the age of 14, growing up in the same area of Leeds a musical relationship was born with Mikey B thanks to their shared love for UK Bass music.

Taking inspiration from the early era of Grime and Dubstep along with the artists he follows across the bass music spectrum that have such a strong focus on low end sound design such as My Nu Leng, Taiki Nulight, S.P.Y, Dimension, Joker and Enigma Dubz (the latter two being no surprise here) he serves up ‘Osami’ to announce his return.
