Having blazed the US on their recent BBQ tour, the dirtybird crew are back in release mode and proud to present a first ever solo EP from one of the jewels in their crown, namely Ardalan.
Our little Iranian brother and resident at chez Martin has previously worked together with his illustrious housemate Justin on breakout hits ‘Mr. Spock‘ and ‘Lezgo.’ Now grabbing the full spotlight himself, Ardalan proves he’s more than got the skills to pay the bills across two brain-frazzling tracks. 
Up first is ‘Wake Up’, with its boisterous and rambunctious beats bobbling away underneath whizzing, whirring, fizzing synth lines and tripped out metallic cowbells. It’s the sort of physical, corrugated groove that this label is most celebrated for and proves Ardalan can infuse his sounds with a ton of off kilter charm as well as anyone else in the dirtybird family. 
On the flip, ’The No Yeah’ is a colourful brew of malfunctioning machine sounds and raw as coleslaw beats that has blurts of soulful synth and breathy female vocal breaking though. Clipped sirens, fat bass and skipping percussion all nimbly shape shift and have you doing the same for the loveable duration of the track.

Having already impressed in cahoots with Justin Martin, Ardalan disappoints no-one when given this full solo step up, so it’s time you got on board with this exciting emergent talent, if you haven’t already.

Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
