The What You Sample / I Eat Beats EP is Billy Kenny’s first EP on his own co-run imprint, This Ain’t Bristol. Already gaining huge support from all across the board, these two sweetened and fruit-flavoured peak time bangers are accompanied by a juicy remix by non other than Dirtybird’s Ardalan. 

What You Sample’s kit shuffles it’s way into a hypnotic masquerade of melodic 808’s, calming the listener before hitting with some serious grit! This track shows off one of the deadliest reese basses known to mankind like it’s nothing, while keeping it’s cool in-between, creating a seesaw of volume and atmosphere.
 
A concerto of violins, gangster leads and talking warps are the main ingredients that “I Eat Beats” consists of. The epic orchestral break reverbs its way into the abyss and prepares you for the drops - yes, there's a few and they switch up constantly! The almighty Ardalan returns to DIRTYBIRD with his second solo EP for us! After having one of our biggest hits of 2015, ‘Function’ with Justin Martin, and the success of his debut ‘The Yeah/No’, we had to shine the spotlight on our rising Dirtybird Player.

He makes it easy with tracks like ‘Thunderdad’, a twisted and bouncy track with touches of acid, shuffled beats, big bass and some vocal Thunder. 

Proving he’s not a one-trick pony, “Look It” heads a different direction with heavy undertones, skating synth melodies, and a touch of drama.

As you can imagine, we're sent cat memes all the time. The number of photos with cats in boxes is actually astounding, just as astounding as the amount of demos we receive. We receive so much great music that just doesn't fit into our release schedule, so every now and then we throw a bunch of them into a compilation for you guys. This gives us the chance to showcase many artists from around the world in one dynamite package.

Today we present to you the 6th installment of our Litterbox compilation series. We've tried to build an energy from the beginning, with a crescendo in the middle and an easy finish. There is everything you might expect from a Box of Cats compilation, and probably a bunch of stuff you wouldn’t...

Litterbox 6 includes tracks from some of our known favourites like SLY TURNER, MONISTA, ROCKSTED and MIDDATH. It also features some fresh new faces such as TOM CLASSIC, AVAA, PHINEO and DR. 1MORE.

Being original, quirky and fun is what Box Of Cats has always been about, and we truly believe this compilation is exactly that.

AVAA. What a machine! Call us ignorant but we would imagine that being raised in Compton you would become a rapper or a hip hop producer. 

It wasn’t the fast tongue of Nipsy Hussle (although he does play a role in this young mans life) or the attitude of NWA that caught Avaa’s ears but it was the 808 and bass.

Although Avaa spends a lot of his time scoring and composing music he still finds time to write certified club bangers. This is very apparent in his new two track EP. The best way to describe his style is Thug House. Its chunky, rude and full of swag. You can almost picture his new track Work It just walking down the street with passes by taking a second glance at those Fendi sneakers.

Every box was ticked when we said yes to these tracks and there is no doubt Avaa got the drip we all lookin for.

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
