The year was 2020. People had no problem rubbing sweaty elbows at clubs, sharing drinks, traveling on planes, or eating at packed indoor restaurants, and the only time anyone wore a mask was Halloween. That also was the year Dirtybird turned 15 and Claude VonStroke released his 4th studio album, “Freaks & Beaks”, with a world tour planned that would touch every part of the globe.
After launching the album to a packed Dirtybird Art show in downtown LA, Claude hit the road. Just after an epic Berlin date at Katerblau and a crazy night at Fabric London, the entire world changed forever. Claude was forced to come back to LA and no one left their house for over a year.
Fortunately, the world has healed quite a bit and a new normal has taken shape, so we thought it was time to revisit the album with fresh interpretations from remixers hand-picked by Claude.
With each adding their own unique stamp, the range and genres goes end-to-end. VNSSA brings her main-room energy on “These Notes In This Order”, Rodriguez Jr. goes deep on the acid-tinged Youngblood, Nikki Nair’s ridiculous production skills are on display for “Flubblebuddy”, Steve Darko takes the low end even lower for “All My People”, while Shiba San teams up with French producer, Millad, for a banger, and we tracked down the French producer, Frankie, who was the inspiration for “Frankie Goes to Hollywood” and brought him out of retirement to remix his namesake track. 
It’s good to be back.

Desert Hearts Records is more than excited to welcome none other than Audiojack to the family. Their characteristic sound has made them one of the most loved acts in the industry. You find them jet setting around, playing the wildest parties all across the globe, while still finding time to create energetic tunes in the studio and running their own label Gruuv. 

And now they have landed on the Desert Hearts Records planet with two massive dance floor bombs. The title track, “Straight Up” takes the lead with its infections groove, while the teasing synth builds up momentum that leads us right into the electrifying break. It is techy, it is catchy, it makes you want to move. 

When we move into the second track of the EP, “Like What”, we know from the first beat that this is going to be big. The driving groove works along the chopped vocal elements and a bouncy bassline. With the exquisite drum work taking its role in the forefront, playful synths funk up the vibe in the back, giving it a lightheaded tough.This EP shows us exactly what Audiojack are so known and loved for. They know what they want on the dance floor, and they are giving it all.

'Into The Jungle' is the first collaboration between Desert Hearts Records boss, Mikey Lion, alongside Sol Selectas Records honcho, Sabo. Both known for regularly droppin' tribalistic drum grooves, Mikey & Sabo bonded over a common love of music and a less common love of skateboarding. They both knew it was only a matter of time before they got in the studio together to make some magic. The title track 'Into The Jungle' is a deep, forward thinking tune that takes the listener on a ride through the mystical depths of the jungle. You can almost feel the energy of the jungle breathing down your neck as you make your way through the song's rises and falls. 'Lonely Boy's Mighty Jungle Mix' takes it up another notch as the same mystic synths from the original track build for nearly 4 minutes before exploding into a massive high energy drop. The result is a 9 minute epic that is sure to rock any peak time dance floor. The next track on the EP titled 'Sally', is a much darker, stomper of a tune you wouldn't normally expect from Mikey & Sabo. Laced with big kicks, heavy synths, and cryptic vocals to boot, 'Sally' was made for peak time in a dark warehouse. Finally, to round off the EP, 'Sally' gets remixed by badass Joyce Muniz who brings a cranking tech house vibe to the track. The bassline chugs along to constantly changing high hats until the acid synth at the end brings the whole thing home. In typical Desert Hearts fashion, this entire EP was made to crush dance floors.

02 Mikey Lion & Sabo - Into The Jungle (Lonely Boy's Mighty Jungle Mix)

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
