Yorkshire bass-junkie Billy Kenny continues ruthlessly with his epic work rate, this time dropping a duo of raw, grimey house beats via the ever-growing Four40 Records.

Following on from the Forgive Me EP recently released on Nu Wave, Billy is already a name firmly planted in the mind and sets of notable DJs far and wide.

Work shows off further Billys awesome ability to build tension in his music – this time storming into a huge wall of contorted bass – seemingly taking influence from bassline house and 4x4 of old.

The DIRTYBIRD crew haven’t even had time to take their counsellor uniforms to the dry cleaners post-Campout, but already they’re dishing out more bulletproof slabs of future-flexed acid house.
Will Clarke mans the controls: Making his Dirtybird debut in January with “Badness” on DIRTYBIRD 10, and followed up with the ‘Boogie Woogie’  EP and lazer-snapping “808Frenzy”’ on the ‘DIRTYBIRD BBQ- Grill$on’s Revenge’ collection, the bristly Bristol-based spandex enthusiast has enjoyed a beautiful summer with releases on Defected, Emerald City and Turbo and unforgettable shows across the US, Australia and Europe.
Returning to the label with the bulbous two-track EP ‘Turn It Up’, Clarke does just that: Writhing in carnal groove simplicity, he taps into the roots of timeless, low-down, butt-wriggling house music with three obscene examples of strong-armed tech funk. ‘Can You Funk’ punches with Breach-level hookiness, and ‘Turn It Up’ does the loopy-loop with Dirtybird’s trademark vocal trippiness.

If you’re familiar with Dirtybird, then chances are you know that we hold the fast-paced, rhythmic, and usually very explicit style of music called ‘Juke’ or ‘Ghetto House’ close to our heart. There’s something about the lo-fi 808 & 909 bangers with nasty vocals and crackling snares that does it for us, and you’ll still hear originals from the era worked into many of the Dirtybird’s dj sets. A lost art, you don’t hear many original new Juke vocals that are as timeless as the classics from the past.

Until now. 

Submitted as a random demo, Claude VonStroke was looking for some secret weapons for our two-day Detroit BBQ festival this Summer, and came across one named ‘Stripper’ from an artist duo named Fancy Fux, featuring Katy Got Bandz on vocals. He tested it out at at our pop-up afterparty, and people lost it. Less than 15 seconds of that moment was captured on video, and in days thousands of people were clamoring to find out what it was and how they can get their hands on it. The reaction sealed the deal.. we had to release this record.

There’s also a certain Dirtybird Player that we can admit is the most obsessed with this style, and we knew we couldn’t put it out without giving him a go at it. Sure enough, Kill Frenzy stepped up and knocked it out of the park with a remix to complement this future classic, and bonus mixes that you can only get on the Birdfeed.

Cut Snake have been tapped to be part of Insomniac Records' massive upcoming EDC Las Vegas-themed compilation, and their contribution called 'Stomp' is no exception. The compilation houses an impressive 40 tracks alongside Cut Snake's 'Stomp', including releases from Sage Armstrong, Sacha Robotti, Sinden, Dombresky and many more. It's out on June 9, ahead of EDC Las Vegas on June 16-18.

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
