I discovered Dirtybird years ago with I start to fall in love with electric music, specially tech house.

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
EDC LAS VEGAS
-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
I would go to the future to see what new music genres have been invented. 
-What species of bird best describes you and why?
Penguin! because like me, I feel like they are always chilling, relaxed
-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
Dirtybird to me means a dream come true. Being able to say I am part of a community that has taken dance music to another level. 
From the artist to it all, its all very special.

Recorded during his headline set at Movement Detroit, Claude VonStroke’s “Live From Detroit” is the first­ ever live mix album released by Dirtybird Records, the label VonStroke founded in San Francisco in 2005. VonStroke has always loved mix compilations, coming of age listening to the likes of Andrew Weatherall for Fabric and Claude Young’s DJ Kicks. The chance to put out a live recording from his hometown of Detroit, in collaboration with one of the world’s largest and respected electronic music festivals, proved irresistible. 

VonStroke spent four months A&Ring the mix, pre­clearing nearly 150 tracks in the weeks leading up to the album, giving him the chance to DJ at Movement with a huge variety of music. He sourced exclusive VIP edits from the Dirtybird family, as well as a brand new remix of Claude’s timeless “Who’s Afraid of Detroit?” . The album came to embody the Dirtybird A&R ethic, featuring seven never ­before­ heard tracks that VonStroke discovered and signed just for this release. So while the album includes nods to the label’s past, it also includes new artists, and an original VonStroke track called “Maharaja”.

“I’ve played Movement more than 10 times, and every time it’s one of the most nerve­ racking shows of the year,” says VonStroke. “I always want to bring the hottest possible set for Detroit, it’s where it all started, and my parents always come watch. My set is very much an old­ school style DJ set, all music no­ one’s heard before, special versions, secret edits, all the stuff I’ve been saving just for this performance. It seems crazy to release a mix album in today’s world, but the amount of incredible original music I have collected from both known and unknown producers will make this something people can get really excited about.”

After initially debuting on our Dirtybird BBQ comp a couple years ago with the fan
favorite, “Sausages”, the super-talented DJ E-Clyps returns to the label with his EP,
“Blackbird”, featuring “Scooty Woop” and “Coffee Break”.
With a long history of music making across all genres, including a stint as an in-house
beatmaker for one of hip hop’s iconic mega-producers, several tours as Gucci Mane’s
live DJ, and a long list of dance music hits on the biggest labels around, it was only a
matter of time before we’d see his versatility on display at Dirtybird.

DJ E-Clyps - Scooty Woop

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
