Deep bass rumbles in the dirtybird jungle as Justin Jay swathes into the fray once again with yet another impeccable collection of tracks. From acid house foundations to the sonic semiotics of Detroit - his ability to fuse a timeless, full-bodied dancefloor blend is remarkable. The Instincts EP follows up a notable appearance on VonStrokes Urban Animal remix album and continues Justin's steady rise as he finishes his college degree while also interning at the dirtybird head office!

"Analysis Paralysis" is a hypnosis homage: percussive elements strip and tease amid the mix while a sharp, sinewy synth line twists and turns itself inside out.  All the while a deep, almost dub-level bassline bubbles and bobs over the concrete kicks.  

"Denial," done in tandem with PILO, is a sludgier, loopy beast that struts with a bi-polar moodiness. Both reflective and growling the fine balance is kept in check between the purring metallic SFX and human vocal touches. 

 "Instincts" closes the show with bleepy gusto.  Instantly infectious thanks to its sturdy rhythmic clap, were soon dropped into a bold, bulbous bass riff that smoulders and shimmers with 808 finesse.

Timeless, full-bodied and unarguably funky: Justin Jay just keeps on delivering. Press play and get busy.

It's a fitting monument to the final moments of frenzied dancing before the Singularity, when we will all be judged in the eyes of the Nano-Lord.

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".

Personality wise, he is a quiet achiever! Behind the decks he will and has mixed it with the best… Jeremy J has the reputation as the DJ’s DJ. A near perfect ear, a brand of house, tech, breaks, hip hop, disco, acid jazz and funk that defines great music and the seamless way of compiling tracks together creating the ultimate party vibe. His diversity to play amongst any DJ or act amongst these genres is second to none.

Residing in Cairns, Jeremy J burst onto the national scene through the mix ‘If It Aint Broken Don’t Fix It’ through AKA/Triple J and his own compilation release (House2Hard Vol 2), tours and role with GeneratioNext. 

Holding residencies with every major club and bar in Cairns and surrounding areas, playing or instigating festivals, supporting and bringing a plethora of acts to North Queensland and across the country, for a regional town his career has been in a class of its own. There are simply to many events played and acts he has supported to list!

Respected and revered for enriching the north’s club and music scene with his partnerships in Electric Avenue, GeneratioNext, Tastey and Deep North, he is not afraid to put the music first. Whether it be DJ’s, bands, electronica or hip hop, Jeremy J has always strived to give the regional area’s of North Queensland the entertainment and respect it deserves. 

Having been voted #1 in the North Queensland Elec:Tropica DJ award poll, industry achievement awards, events and having won first place in a national mix up competition via Triple J, Jeremy has earned his right place amongst the upper echelon. Hosting and guest appearances on numerous radio stations, managing international DJ tours, setting up his DJ school, label management, retail outlet and hub for DJ’s in Tastey… is there anything he hasn’t had his fingers in? Studio...
