-How long have you been creating music?
I create my music about 4 years ago.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
I use fl studio and some native fl studio synths that I love

-How and when did you discover Dirtybird for the first time?
I got to know Dirtybid about 9 years ago, through a friend who shows me the track 'Deep Throat' by Claude VonStroke that I loved and other tracks by artists who will be there.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you like to collaborate more with?
Claude Vonstroke, Ardalan, Holt 88 who is a great childhood friend who supported me a lot in music production and among others.

-If your whole life were a movie, what title would you improve?
Looking for happiness.  ..

-What's the best show you've ever seen?
Kaballah 2015, I spent the entire event on the DIRTYBIRD stage, it was an amazing thing for my life.

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
Kaballah 2015 was something unforgettable for me.

-What kind of bird are you better and why?
The blue bird, why, is happiness and pleasure.  Any positive feelings.

-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
DIRTYBIRD, it means a lot to me, since the first time I identified myself, it was love at first sight, especially now that I'm part of this big family, I feel speechless.

Ocean Roulette is a producer and DJ born and raised in Northridge, CA who represents the next generation of electronic artists. Although he produces tech house and other electronic music, his inspiration comes from psychedelic rock, indie rock, and years of playing in bands. Excited to welcome MAGNVM! to our label for the first time! Evening birds is is a wonky tech groover with high-energy synths and rhythmical vocal chops that make this track all the more weird and fun. This track is a perfect after-party banger that will keep the energy high and the vibes fun.

Welcoming Rich DietZ back to our label on an amazing collab with Phoneks. Madonna is a badass tech house banger with a catchy vocal hook and a groovy deep bass line. This track screams modern/new age with just enough weird ear candy and textures that make this track out of the box memorable. 

We are so happy that Screechy is joining our label for the first time with this minimalist heater called 'I Move'. The talking vocal is enjoyably soft and haunting, which contrasts the low-end sub in melodic harmony. Play this out on a big sound system to enjoy the heavy sub and danceable groove in all of its glory.

Eveningperple is back on Artichokes Are Yellow with a tech house heavy hitter called '212'. This track is full of fat synths and a droning bass line. The bass line gives this track a lift of high energy and fills out the low end of this track in a simplistic yet harmonious way.

Dumb Fat welcomes our dear friend Sven Lochenhoer, which by the way is half man and half computer, with a tasty 3 track EP that takes us on a space voyage.



Kicking off with the heavy hitting 'Black Friday', this groove takes over ones body as if he encoded some telekinetic power that spills out when transmitted through speakers. Alien technology possibly yes, but we don't ask or tell. The grooves continue with 'Anotha Level', imagine you're at a far away planet rave in a universe where R2D2 is on the decks, this is the song that has the place bumpin'. Deep groovy bounce with some sci-fi licks. Lastly, Sven brings us 'Oh Boy' to end our journey and make our way back home to earth with atmospheric, laid back vibes.

1. What made you decide that you want to start producing?

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mom signed my up for Bollywood dance classes when I was little, so the love of dance has always been a part of me. I really began my journey with electronic music while I was a sophomore at UC Berkeley I was a wall flower business major and music was one of my only real outlets to show I could “fit in”. I was the guy on the aux cord every weekend until I taught myself how to Dj and ultimately began making music. It’s been such an incredible journey of self discovery so far.


2. Why did you pick this song of all songs to remix? Any special place in your heart for the Gorillaz? (I mean who doesn't love the Gorillaz?)

This has always been one of my favorite songs. When I was in music school at Icon in LA the Gorillaz headlined Outsidelands Fest (2017) a San Francisco based music festival. I ended up sneaking onto stage just in time to watch the Gorillaz perform this song live to a crowd of 100,000+ people. The song has never sounded the same and as a result was stuck in my head for weeks, months, years even. Fast forward to a few months ago when this bootleg was written I was at the peak of a new relationship that was healing so many old wounds. On Melancholy Hill was my top played song of 2019 shout out Spotify algorithmic playlists.  It all made sense it was the fastest I’d ever written a song.

4. Drop some wisdom, any advice to the producers just breaking out into the scene?

I was never a musician in the classical sense music theory is something I still battle with on a regular basis. What I will say is that somewhere along the way I’ve learned to trust my ear more than anything and it’s gotten me some really interesting results (not all of them have worked). So I suppose trust your ear, and make music every day. The results won’t always be a number a song or even an idea that you like. Trust the process and laugh at yourself ALL THE TIME. 


5. Tell us more about Boiz House and what you got going on!

I get giddy even as I write this but Boiz House is literally my everything. I’ve been lucky enough to form a live music dj boy band with my best friends from college and there truly is no other feeling in the world like it. We’ve traveled across most of the west coast and played on some of the biggest stages at the biggest festivals out here together playing music that we’ve been working on in our living room. It’s been a truly joyful and testing experience as an Artist to be thrown into the pits (or backyard pool) of producing for weeks on end with some of your harshest critics but at the end of the day having the time of our life has always been essential to our journey.  If you haven’t heard of Boiz House you definitely will be soon! We start our West Coast Party Tour in Seattle this February so you might catch us in your neighborhood! Stay tuned because we boiz love house, bass, funk, jazz, disco, breaks, hip-hop & everything in between. You’re in for a boogie like no other. 


6. Whats one of your favorite production tips that when you learned it, totally changed the game for you?

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
