[BIRDFEED EXCLUSIVE] Congrats to Lustyr who won the Claude's Construction contest with "This Thuh Thee"! Here's his winning track, exclusive to the 'Feed!

-How long have you been creating music?
I started messing around with DAWs roughly 10 years ago while in middle school. I've been more seriously creating music for about 3 years. 

-What do you use to make your tracks?
I use Ableton on my PC, some MIDI controllers (M-AUDIO 49 and AKAI MPK 25), my voice if I'm feeling weird, and random items laying around my room as auxiliary percussion.

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
Dirtybird was first on my radar when "Function" by Ardalan and Justin Martin landed in my "Discover Weekly" playlist on Spotify in 2016. A few months after that, I walked into Chipotle to get a barbacoa burrito and heard a weird funky track. I pulled out Shazam and learned it was "The Greasy Beat - Natural Funk Mix" by Claude VonStroke. That's when I got hooked on Dirtybird.  

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
For the top spot, I would say it's a tie between Vangelis Kostoxenakis and Claude VonStroke. Christian Martin, Sven Lochenhoer, and Ardalan would also be great to collaborate with. 

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
The Spectral Theory

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Hippo Campus and Polica at Bayfront (Duluth, MN), Lane 8 at The Loft (Minneapolis, MN), or Ardalan in an abandoned church basement.

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
The First World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) in New York, 1939. 

-What species of bird best describes you and why?
A penguin chick because they are chunky, fluffy, and eager to explore the world. 

-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
To me, Dirtybird is a group of music lovers that cares just as much about inclusiveness and community as they do the nasty, dirty, techy sounds coming out of the label. Campinn 2021 was one of the most positive and welcoming experiences of my life. Dirtybird also pushes any existing boundaries in music 
even further. Being kind-hearted, unique, joyous, creative, and passionate are all attributes of a "Dirtybird".

- Straight from Israel, Daniel better known as Nielle makes his debut on Red Paradise Records with the EP called 'Taka Tam'.
This EP started when we heard 'Taka Tam'; We all know that at Red Paradise we love fun songs, and Taka Tam is exactly the type of music we like, this acapella that starts at the moment of Drop is extremely fun and will raise the hair of everyone who hears it.
'The Flirt' has a simply captivating flute, even more accompanied by an incredible bass line and a lot of percussion, has Nielle been influenced by the culture of his country? We don't know how to tell you that, but it certainly was a great combination of elements.
To finish this EP we have the song 'Holly', in this song the focus of the producer was the groove, its base composed of counter-kicks and a shot of acapella make this song unique.
Nielle is an original producer, with unique productions and that caught our attention! His music takes us directly to the Middle East, makes us feel a little of the culture of his country.
Add this to your playlist, take those vibrations to the people close to you and pay attention to every detail hidden in this EP, especially in the percussions that accompany all tracks on the EP.

Ever found yourself finishing off your dinner and although you feel like you couldn't fit another bite in, you still reach into the freezer and grab an ice cream? This pretty much sums up our relationship with Ekoboy, and yes that includes ice cream spread all over our faces.

Ekoboy is back today with his third instalment on BOC and we couldn't be more chuffed. Always bringing the heat that lives somewhere between the old and new school, he's done it again on these two. A call to the heavens, Universal has an angelic vocal wrapping itself around a fast thick beat. We feel Ekoboy really held back and kept things refined on this one, which gave us no choice but to make it the A side. On the flipside Burning really does take after its name, heating the floor under your feet. A cheeky vocal and synth line take things interdimensional but the bassline keeps you in check!

As Thor strikes his hammer down on this, one would expect them to break but no. These are ready for war and they’re going to destroy floors! Ekoboy, we wouldn’t expect it any other way.

Around 2010, I think it may have been a video of Claude in the studio, being laid back and making cool beats :-)

Something that is fully amazing and not often spoken about is truffles... Why? Well, truffles are worth an absolute motza – it’s big business. What's more insane is the fact that these delicious little mushrooms are sniffed out by PIGS! 

What are we trying to get at here? Well the crew at Box of Cats could be likened to those pigs, out there in the fields with our nostrils to the ground sniffing out those aromatic new records to bring to your ears. Delightfully it’s paid off, as we recently sniffed out two new pungent ones from our homie Reginald! 

The Whistler and We Can are both that mouldy fungus techno you have come to love from him. Lo-fi drums and bulbous sine waves swizzle onwards and upwards as The Whistler takes form while poppin breaks, drum machines and a wiggly acid line bring together the b-side. If Reggie does something right, it’s definitely creating infectious dance floor destroying loops. Just don’t turn this up too loud, it might scare your dog. 

We are absolute suckers for a dirty open hat, and Reginald has plenty of them. Now before we head back out to proverbial fields to sniff out more stinky bangers, let’s take a moment to welcome the big man Reginald back to the label!

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
