-How long have you been creating music?
A21: I've been creating music for 7 years, which is 61,344 hours :)
Mexpha: I'd played around with various instruments as long as I can remember, however I picked up production when I was 13. It's coming up to 18 years ago now so way over half of my life.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
A21: Ableton until I die.
Mexpha: I'm a FL Studio guy through and through, unapologetically. FL was clowned on a lot when I first started producing, but it's what I know and I'm confident I can make great music with it.

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
A21: I discovered Shiba San's - OKAY, and it was on repeat for like a year ahha. Then I got to know about the parties and immediately fell in love with the creators and the community. I have been following closely since, which is why I'm so happy to have a 2nd Birdfeed release. 1 step closer to a full Dirtybird release :)
Mexpha: When I was about 16, I was a big online socialiser and would chat to people from all over since there wasn't much going on in my hometown and I didn't know anybody else into production in person. A friend from SF was going to Dirtybird events and shared some music with me and I fell in love with the sound instantly. We'd hop on Skype calls and just discuss music that fell into that kind of sound and share production techniques etc all aiming to hopefully get on Dirtybird some day, so I'm really chuffed to be putting this one out with you. Shout out to Jerrad and Wyatt for introducing me to Dirtybird.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
A21: Well, being south-American (Chilean), I'm really proud of the Brazil's immersion in the label and the genre, so I would say: Court T & Holt 88. And then, I'm based in the UK, so it would be lovely to collaborate with GAWP as well.
Mexpha: Aside from Claude being the obvious, I've been into Mark Starr's music heavily since I first came across it. n808 is also killing it these days. Both have become good friends of mine over the last few years so maybe it'll happen sometime, who knows?



-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?

A21: Banshees of Inisherin

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

A21: Ultra Chile GTA 2015 - the most insane crowd control and fans.
Mexpha: Viagra Boys, London, January '23. Those guys know how to put on a show and they're not afraid to be themselves. I think a lot of music these days is missing that and more people could do with being a bit more loose and taking themselves less seriously.

-How long have you been creating music?
I've been making music for a couple of years, but realistically Kapowsky is the first project where I am pushing full force.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
It's a bit of everything really. Ableton Live being my main DAW, but I also dip into Reason and Bitwig at times to generate my ideas from different spaces. Sometimes I'll record some analog synths and have a play around with them, or really get into the nitty gritty with obscure Max4Live devices. Anything to get the inspiration flowing!

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
I've been into the Dirtybird sound for the better half of a decade, first drawn into it by Claude VonStroke's unique take on house music and then really getting pulled in more with Shadow Child's String Thing EP.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
The big boss man Claude VonStroke of course. That would be the absolute dream. I've always loved Ardalan's records as well, so he'd be a close second.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
"Oppenheimer" would be a great one, because I am doing my best to blow up over here.

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
I would say seeing Chemical Brothers at Pukkelpop in 2016 left quite an impression on me!

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
That's a tough one. I'd go back a couple of years ago and tell myself to go for music full throttle a bit earlier on! Aside from that very self serving answer - historically, the Wild West would be interesting to see!

-What species of bird best describes you and why?
A hawk. I set a target and then relentlessly work to attain it haha.

-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
I'll try to not be overdramatic here, but it's a place where you can still truly be authentic and take chances in your tracks, which I feel is still very much appreciated in the Dirtybird-world. I love that about it. It's also the first label that got me (back) into house music. I just love all the original takes on house music and the community built around the label is mega of course. It's great to see that.

How long have you been creating music? 

I started aimlessly playing around in Ableton in 2018. I was 100% stuck in the "loop phase" until I attended one of Justin Jay's FREE online production courses in November of 2022 when I finished my first track (it was a horrible remix of 'Popular' from Broadway's Wicked...lol). So I started creating actual music about a year ago :)

What do you use to make your tracks?

I use Ableton Live 11 Suite!

How and when did you first discover Dirtybird? 

I first discovered Dirtybird from seeing Justin Martin at Venue 578 in Orlando, Florida about 7 years ago! I've been completely hooked ever since! 

Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most? 

I've tried to narrow it down to just one - but I really can't choose between Nala, Steve Darko, Justin Jay, and of course Claude VonStroke. I'm endlessly inspired by the four of them in very different and unique ways. 

If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you? 

Living on the Fine Line Between Delusion and Optimism

What's the best concert you've ever been to? 

Oh this is a tricky one! It has to be a tie between One Direction in Indianapolis, 2015 (this was their last tour :"( - 1D FOR LIFE!!) and Downtempo Night of Tipper's 3-night run at Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, 2020. 

If you could time travel, where and when would you go? 

I would go back to 2012, the year I started high school, to tell my past self the things that would end up being most important to me - and to focus on those goals rather than what society attempts to shape us into at such a young age. I'd also tell myself "No Brendan, you can't pretend to be straight your entire life - come out of the closet now...you'll be much happier" (LOL)

What species of bird best describes you and why? 

I'd have to say the Scarlet Macaw! I had a summer job as a bird handler at an aquarium when I was a teenager. My best friend that summer was Cici, a Scarlet Macaw. I loved that bird so much and I felt like we were very in-tune with one another. I still miss her to this day! 

What does Dirtybird mean to you? 

My entire life revolves around music - and not to be dramatic (lol), but Dirtybird is kind of like home to me! There's a consistent and undeniable feeling of community and love with pretty much every Dirtybird event! Rather it be a Dirtybird artist on tour, or an entire festival - the music always brings me to "that place" of euphoria. I'm extremely honored and grateful to be releasing music on Birdfeed!

Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
I'd love to collaborate with Bruno Furlan. The tracks they're putting out are always so groovy.

If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
My favorite concert was The Birdhouse Festival that Dirtybird hosted here in Chicago. I really got to experience what Dirtybird was about.

If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
I would time travel to San Francisco when Dirtybird first started. It would be awesome to see.

What species of bird best describes you and why?
The bird species that best describes me is the goose; it's been my nickname my whole life lol

What does Dirtybird mean to you?
Dirtybird means great music, great events, and great people.

-How long have you been creating music?
Around 16-17 years, since I was 11 years, I'm 27 lol.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
I used the Fruity Loops Studio, with a few kind of plugins, i like to try the make the sounds like more fresh if i can

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
Since I was 15 years old, I've discovered a track by Claude Vonstroke, since there I'm always looking for signs in dirtybird :)

With  all of them if possible :)

I would go back to the beginning of my project as a dj and music producer and do it all over again without changing a thing.

Eagle. The eagle remains the same, even with the passage of time, because it renews itself and doesn't let itself be defeated by anything

Means freedom to express feelings in music, with a totally unique and authentic dirtybird style.

b.Fonki - Movement [BIRDFEED]

You know Dirtybird for dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance floor since January 2005.

The fun family vibe of the Dirtybird label can be traced back to a free event started in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. This new kind of house music went against the smooth vocal house that was popular at the time and derived its influences mostly from hip-hop, drum n bass, and American funk. The free outdoor BBQ party was very rough around the edges but eventually became legendary amongst the people of San Francisco. This event was also a very influential factor in the decision by Claude VonStroke to start the record label in 2005.

Today, Dirtybird has offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has expanded into events and tour production. As it grows, the brand continues to expand beyond music into merchandise, licensing and artist management. In 2015, Dirtybird launched the inaugural Dirtybird Campout festival, which has been dubbed “Summer Camp For Adults”, and Dirtybird has been recognized from their achievements by being awarded "Underground Label of the Year" at the International Dance Music Awards, “Label of the Decade” by Mixmag, “Best North American Label” by DJ Mag, and Billboard’s "Top 5 Independent Dance Labels".
