¨Lung Kidnapping¨ consists of 28 minutes divided into 5 original tracks, each one set out in chapter mode of sonic immersion which interacts with the ears of the listener, tracing the narrative concocted from the imagination and experiences of the artist. Movement, space, profundity, landscapes, atmospheres and introspection are some of the elements that strongly gravitate around the personality of the release, which is also immensely populated with intermittent melodic, rhythmic, organic and ambient details, constructing a great sense of dynamism synchronized with the sound. 
Departing with ¨Human Taxidermy¨ the tense introductory with unintelligible vocals, passing to the precious oriental landscapes of ¨Kugutsushi¨, then onto the mathematical and spacial progression of "Une Marionette", continuing to the hypnotic persuasions and malleable dub injection of "Found" and ending with the expansive solemnity of "Oro Negro", "Lung Kidnapping" leaves the listeners unconscious resting with the feeling of having been in many places at the same time during a symbolic displacement exercise. A factor that clearly manifests the evocative, descriptive and cathartic potential of the sonic universe that is brewing in Dr.Res´consultation room, which invites free interpretation where words are not necessary.

Sunny Graves' debut release comes in the form of a four track EP recorded, assembled and mixed via analogue and digital means between Barcelona and New York during 2013 and marks the first official output for Simon Williams' (formerly Jahbitat) most personal and focused project to date.

'Bayou EP' comprises a thoroughly meditated collection of work made up of four carefully constructed rhythmic, melodic, textural and emotional explorations in which dense layers of synthesisers and processed samples collide and breathe with pulsing beats, and where bass frequencies, soundscapes and saturation envelop cyclical and mutating melodies. At times sharp, relentless and challenging and at others hazy, sedated and hypnotic, its four tracks grow dynamically and gain intensity, building in tension to then release, their layers folding into each other and generating a type of harmonic, percussive and multi-tonal wall of sound.

Throughout its entirety one can pick up on subtle traces of a myriad of influences (from ambient music and the cosmic tradition to the hip-hop, jungle and 90s electronics of Williams' UK based youth), all seeped in over the years, distilled and then poured back out again, yet its resulting sound instinctively escapes the trappings of any specific genre. At once psychedelic, dream-like, penetrating, immersive, tense, ecstatic and physical, each track embodies an exercise in channelling the inherent yet divergent sound that embraces the aural obsessions of its producer. Tracks like "Spring (Slow Return)" and "Drawing Hands In Soft Light", with their enveloping synth pads and crackling textures, haunting vocal samples, hard-driven bass tones, clattering percussion, guitar feedback drones and relentless, trance-inducing arpeggios, epitomise the EP's sonic scope and serve as testament to Sunny Graves' expansive vision.

The artwork and design have been meticulously carried out by Barcelona-based graphic designer Ariadna Serrahima, whose predominantly greyscale motives seek to further stress the importance of contrast in a project greatly inspired by the confrontation and eventual resolution between subtlety and abrasiveness, light and its absence.

Román Daniel aka Mans o is a multidisciplinary creator, whose talents range from graphic design to contemporary dance, but who is much more than that. He is an example of how producing music at a young age is not necessarily synonymous with artistic immaturity and in his case the producer from barcelona embodies this undeniably, creating with apparent ease and freshness, near pop melodic lines, deconstructed hip hop rhythms and liquid percussions with a lot of groove that seduces directly from the beginning, demonstrating in his own way whilst using machinery, that electronica can also be human. 

Beginning with the captivating and catchy 'El Tiempo que Salta', hatched out from samples that could well belong to folk music from the far south and guitar riffs that remain stuck in your head for days along with cacophonous voices, Mans o has managed to compose a unique piece, something like a futuristic lullaby. 

´Sweet and Sour´, the appropriately titled second song on the EP, where Mans o collaborated with the extravagant Max Grosero on the atonal vocals and primordial distress calls to gain a sweet and sour aftertaste that remains at the end, the kind of sweet point that you get from the melodies of something like a toy keyboard, altogether creating a type of narcotic soul ballad.  

Continuing with the marvelous ´Anule Day´, its progression addictive, from minimalism to maximalism in two minutes, soft and emotive keys at the beginning and heart-wrenching bass in the second half.

Closing Mans o´s second individual work is 'Freed', a short but intense theme which changes by surprise after a long, sharp introductory chord and disappears into a powerful bass line melody. This is the true protagonist of the track together with the melodic percussions that oscillate the pitch during the development of the song, all of which are cushioned by pads that create a celestial mattress that on finishing, leave you with wanting more. 

´Macaya´ is without a doubt a complete and consistent work, which grabs and traps you from beginning to end. It is a declaration of intentions from a young but restless Mans o, a part of a new generation of artists who play around with synths and samplers with an irreverent naturalness.

'Vida Nocturna' no es un disco más, no son sólo dos canciones reconocibles o que puedas guardar en la memoria. Cada escucha es un viaje distinto con infinidad de matices, se palpa el inmenso trabajo y la energía dedicada, se intuye como lo que escuchamos y sentimos es el conjunto de un largo periodo dedicado a grabar su entorno, a recoger muestras. Son veinte minutos de música, por llamarlo de alguna manera, pero bien podríamos hablar de cacofonías, de pedacitos de la vida del autor, imágenes de su pasado, presente y futuro, memorias auditivas en las que bien podemos encontrarnos reflejados si alguna vez nos hemos cruzado en su camino, e incluso si vivimos en la otra punta del planeta porque todo lo abarca, es como la BSO del universo.

Como bien dice Martí Sales: “En el disco de Ilia Mayer encontramos trenes que atraviesan la noche, vacíos e iluminados, como en una película de Theo Angelopoulos o del estudio Ghibli. Ilia Mayer ha sido siempre un pilar importante en Disboot Label, con una larga carrera como artista gráfico es el autor de varias portadas, entre las que se encuentran dos de la trilogía de Downliners Sekt, y multitud de flyers de fiestas y eventos. También colaboró con un track (Kyuuka) en la primera referencia del sello en el año 2008.

'Vida Nocturna' se puede encontrar únicamente en vinilo 12”, ciento noventa copias limitadas, con portada serigrafiada a mano por monoestereo.cat a partir de ilustraciones del propio Ilia.

En conjunto, una joya autobiográfica, el perfecto reflejo del particular y complejo universo del autor, al cual tenemos el privilegio de ser invitados a viajar a través de su 'Vida Nocturna'.

¿Cuántas veces en el transcurso de la vida hemos deseado parar, respirar hondo mientras miramos nuestro entorno sin ningún ápice de prisas y recapacitar con calma chicha antes de volver a reemprender el camino con más seguridad (o al menos, ¡algo más de seguridad como mínimo!) y saber la dirección y significado de nuestros pasos?

Un encierro conlleva muchas horas de dedicación al objetivo en mente, horas y horas de creación, de ensayos, de prueba y error. Y es también en esas horas dedicadas en las que muchas veces uno se da de bruces con la pista que le vuelve a poner en camino. Tras andar, andar, andar y seguir andando, el volúmen de música generada empieza a amonto- narse en el disco duro, dando lugar a un denso escrutinio que acabará convirtiéndose en el lanzamiento que ahora nos ocupa, “El espantapájaros” y “Parece humano” y “Cuando llueve”, ambos de próxima aparición a lo largo del 2017, dando lugar a lo que hemos bautizado como “La trilogía del haiku”.

En “El espantapájaros” (primer volumen de esta trilogía o primer verso de este haiku), encontramos a un Niño más pausado, meditativo y profundo desde los primeros compases de “El último dígito de Pi” (nombre que particularmente nos remite a esa busca eterna y sin fondo, tanto musical como vital) hasta prácticamente la totalidad de la obra, más alejado de la imposición de los BPM’s y que en ciertos momentos más que componer música parece que esté escribiendo haikus, trasladando las referencias a la naturaleza de la escritura a los sonidos orgánicos que recorren todo el EP, tanto el sonido acuático de “rolaCalor”, una gema minúscula de ambient-hop (a nosotros las etiquetas!) o el sonido nocturno de un bosque y su ecosistema en “Plenilunio en junio”. Con el “El espantapájaros” Niño ha compuesto el acompañamiento ideal para la nada que sucede ante nosotros pero que tras la primera escucha no conseguimos olvidar.

Following his acclaimed debut 'Bayou EP' on Disboot in 2014, Sunny Graves returns to the Barcelona-based label with 'Erosion EP' – a thoroughly meditated collection of work made up of four carefully constructed rhythmic, harmonic, textural and emotional explorations through which the UK/Latin American artist heads deeper into the dense and multi-layered territories he has become known to explore.

Instinctively, Sunny Graves has always attempted to reflect certain aspects of nature through sound. Part way through the process of creating the EP, he embarked on a journey which led to the Himalayan and Karakoram Buddhist regions of Ladakh. There he witnessed the effects of erosion in two of its most powerful forms – that which gradually affects the majestic, hostile and humbling landscape and that which rapidly affects an ancient culture now struggling to remain sane amidst the constant bombardment of Western ideals. The resulting sensations became reduced to a single image – a geometrically perfect, artificial form that comes between us and the surroundings. 

The artwork is graphic designer Ariadna Serrahima’s visual response to that scene and speaks of a progressive disconnection from nature and the imposition and/or obstruction of our modern world and perception on it.

Upon returning from that trip, reasserted of the internal and external dualities that drive his work (i.e. permanence–impermanence, light–dark, organic–synthetic, subtlety–abrasiveness, action–reaction), Sunny Graves returned to the studio and in a more visceral manner proceeded to capture the instances in which frequencies collide and friction occurs, rigorously sculpting the layers of sound that make up the tracks on the record.

EP opener and title track “Erosion” seeps in with its drifting analogue synths, speaker-knocking kick drums, distorted bass tones, cascading arpeggio lines and grime-tinged percussion, building in tension to then release, whereas “Stone/Shroud” smashes ambient soundscapes, menacing staccato and spectrum-ripping synth lines against triplet inflicted drums. “Thunder” gradually escalates into an electro-acoustic storm with its disembodied voices, amplified cymbal scrapes, feedback, polyrhythmic percussion, noise and pummelling bass tones weaving in and out of each other, before developing into some form of ambient hardcore. And closing out the EP, “Falling Light – I & II” leads into perhaps the record’s darkest terrains with its spectral chimes, sustained bass drones, swelling jungle ambience and the artist’s first openly lyrical vocal experiments, giving way to serpentine arpeggios and culminating in a full-on percussive and multi-tonal wall of sound.

The EP was written, recorded and mixed in Barcelona during the summer, autumn and winter of 2015, mastered and cut by Sam John at Precise Mastering, pressed on 140g vinyl and is distributed by Unearthed Sounds.

Part way through the process of creating the EP, he embarked on a journey which led to the Himalayan and Karakoram Buddhist regions of Ladakh. There he witnessed the effects of erosion in two of its most powerful forms – that which gradually affects the majestic, hostile and humbling landscape and that which rapidly affects an ancient culture now struggling to remain sane amidst the constant bombardment of Western ideals. The resulting sensations became reduced to a single image – a geometrically perfect, artificial form that comes between us and the surroundings. 

The artwork is graphic designer Ariadna Serrahima’s visual response to that scene and speaks of a progressive disconnection from nature and the imposition and/or obstruction of our modern world and perception on it.

Upon returning from that journey, reasserted of the internal and external dualities that drive his work (i.e. permanence–impermanence, light–dark, organic–synthetic, subtlety–abrasiveness, action–reaction), Sunny Graves returned to the studio and in a more visceral manner proceeded to capture the instances in which frequencies collide and friction occurs, rigorously sculpting the layers of sound that make up the tracks on the record.

EP opener and title track “Erosion” seeps in with its drifting analogue synths, speaker-knocking kick drums, distorted bass tones, cascading arpeggio lines and grime-tinged percussion, building in tension to then release, whereas “Stone/Shroud” smashes ambient soundscapes, menacing staccato and spectrum-ripping synth lines against triplet inflicted drums. “Thunder” gradually escalates into an electro-acoustic storm with its disembodied voices, amplified cymbal scrapes, feedback, polyrhythmic percussion, noise and pummelling bass tones weaving in and out of each other, before developing into some form of ambient hardcore. And closing out the EP, “Falling Light – I & II” leads into perhaps the record’s darkest terrains with its spectral chimes, sustained bass drones, swelling jungle ambience and the artist’s first openly lyrical vocal experiments, giving way to serpentine arpeggios and culminating in a full-on percussive and multi-tonal wall of sound.

The EP was written, recorded and mixed in Barcelona during the summer, autumn and winter of 2015, mastered and cut by Sam John at Precise Mastering, pressed on 140g vinyl and is distributed by Unearthed Sounds.

Un amasijo indescifrable de función de onda, un paquete de datos singularísimo, había llegado al mismo tiempo a todos los radiotelescopios de la Tierra. La comunidad científica internacional no salía de su asombro: ¿quién llamaba a la puerta y que quería decirnos? Tuvieron que pasar meses de investigaciones simultáneas desde todos los rincones del planeta -miles de horas de discernir, de colaborar, de desencriptar- para poder hacer la primera afirmación categórica: se trataba de dos tipos de información, unos archivos de audio y una imagen muy pixelada.
