We start the year with a mix from Vendex. 

The Spanish artist based in Barcelona has been involved in music since he was 15. Growing up with numerous summers spent in Ibiza due to his family, he had many influences that shaped the artist he is today. With releases in more than 70 labels around the globe, including Obscuur Records, Demain Kollectiv, Occult Rhythms, or SCTR just to mention some of them, it is extremely likely that you’ve heard his name before. 
 He describes his project as : “Influenced by the literature of Dante Alighieri in his work the Divine Comedy, as well as everything related to history, Vendex comes with the intention of creating a path to an inner journey wrapped in dark melodies, blunt and sharp bass that defy the natural , reaching supernatural sounds that touch or even reach what would be the sound of the underworld. Generating sounds that guide the Dantesque idea of a trip in the underworld with the aim of reaching paradise. All this through a forceful and enveloping sound, this creating a path to the nine levels of hell, purgatory and finally reaching paradise.”

@hybral is a Berlin based trans DJ and producer starting to appear in the underground scene in the beginning of this year and is mixing and producing dark, hard, industrial, ebm and noisy driven techno. Their sound is characterised by intense evolving atmospheres, pushing percussion and bassline as well as heavy distorted kicks. Hybral always has a political approach, not only by the representation as a queer DJ and producer in the techno scene, but also in their track selection. They try to select and produce tracks that include political statements or theories.
Hybral is also the founder of @subvertedpodcast, a feminist podcast series that includes podcasts recorded by flint* DJs only playing tracks by flint* producers.

Discarnate is a DJ, producer, and techno activist who is the co-founder and resident DJ of PLEXUS, the most prominent Industrial Techno event series in Australia.

Deeply influenced by a background in Hardcore and Metal, Discarnate’s sound embodies an uncompromising aesthetic of violence and momentum. Aggressive, chaotic, and blistering percussive rhythms crash together while harsh synth lines scream overhead and an ominous ambience pervades the space in between. Discarnate’s mixes are hard and fast, bombarding dance floors with an arsenal of oppressive, gritty, and sinister Industrial Techno weapons, which dynamically coalesce to produce a vision of Rave that is equal parts fear-inducing and exhilarating.
