DISCHETTO - LIVE @ Brooklyn Mirage for REZZ

DISCHETTO is Jade Waterman, a DJ based in Brooklyn, NY who has, in addition to DJing for the past 15 years, has also satisfied her unquenchable musical prowess by actively mixing vinyl and playing the harp and piano for the past 20 years - sometimes all simultaneously. With strong roots in classic electronica a la Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode, and Dopplereffekt, she combines her passion for retro electro sounds with modern techno elements in her DJ sets with a finesse only a classically trained musician could translate into the electronic realm.

As a past resident of NYC’s iconic Webster Hall, DISCHETTO exercised her skills as a DJ for their Saturday night GOTHAM party from 2017 to 2018, she hosted a monthly techno party in Bushwick, Brooklyn that hosted the likes of Zombie Nation, PILO, and Alexander Technique. 

With an ever-growing desire to circulate her eccentric and off-kilter sounds with those willing to listen, DISCHETTO has had the opportunity to share her cacophonous mixed record bag while on opening duties for some of her personal heroes: Boys Noize, Brodinski, Dog Blood, Deadmau5, Mr. Oizo, MSTRKRFT, Busy P, Fatboy Slim, and Juan Maclean – to name a few. 

Still fueled predominantly by techno and electro, she has yet to discriminate against a genre and is not afraid to jump from one tempo to the next. "I play what I want" is the overarching theme that resonates with DISCHETTO on a molecular level.


Notes on the Mix ///

"As a DJ and as someone with what I self-describe as 'ping-pong brain', I strive to keep whoever listens to my mixes on their toes. KRS-One into Boys Noize into Gorillaz eventually into Mr. Oizo and Groove Armada sprinkled with a bit of punishing techno. With my chosen sounds, I always aim to paint a mental picture as puzzling and bizarre as that of a surrealist Salvador Dali painting - a nod to my extracurricular work as a visual artist. Musical ADHD is what someone once called it and it really does suit my sound quite well. My musical roots are so strongly placed in pre-2000s electronic music but always sprinkled with peak-time techno tracks that my mother frequently describes as 'disturbing'"
