Mongrando, Italy’s Kreggo has been releasing his unique twist on contemporary electronic sounds via the likes of Lobster Theremin, 10 Pills Mate, ARTS, Infinite Machine, Return To Disorder and Serotonin over the years as well as heading up his own art-aud imprint which traverses through styles ranging from downtempo to dancehall, breaks, bass and more. Here with his latest EP for Italy’s Nottetempo he once again allows all of his musical influences to shine through across the five-track ‘Rally della Lana’ EP.

‘Rising High’ sets the tone with ethereal chords, wandering bass tones, squelchy acid licks and modulating percussion before ‘Talking Stars Cabin’ lays down bumpy syncopated rhythms, oscillating synth tones and dynamic atmospherics.
‘Mcshea’ follows to open the B-side and shifts focus over to skippy, jazzy-tinged drums, murky bass drones and shimmering resonant tones. ‘Small Town Girl’ is up next and embraces a liquid D&B feel via amen breaks, elongated subs, and soft textural pads before ‘Soundtrack For A Film That Doesn’t Exist Yet’ rounds out the release on ambient tip, laid out across four minutes with slowly unfurling synth sequence and vacillating low-end tones.

To say that someone has daddy issues is a somewhat rude and humiliating way of alluding to a very understandable longing for a father who is strong and wise, who is judicious, kind, perhaps at points tough, but always fair, and ultimately always on our side.

It would be so understandable if we were to feel we wanted someone like this in our lives, especially at moments of confusion and chaos.

The longing for a strong father has been a recurring theme throughout history.

We remain a little like the young child we once were and haven't been allowed to mature away from in early childhood. We are all immensely weak and in need of protection.

The paradox of daddy issues is that those who have them are almost always people who didn't have very good fathers.
Perhaps one's father was strong but ultimately cruel, bullying or disinterested.      Perhaps he was more concerned with his work.

A good father doesn't, beyond that age, pretend to be all powerful. They confess they can't solve all our problems and can't magically save us from a myriad of dangers, no matter how much they wish they could.

They try as best they can to help us grow up.

The good Daddy disappoints us just as soon as we're strong enough to bear reality out of love.
They deflate the idea that there could ever be a perfect, ideal Daddy.
