From 18th December, 2021 - ROTATION - Live from Monarch in San Francisco shared decks with David Harness and Jayvi Velasco, while in the lounge, DJ Proof and Ivan Ruiz worked the one and twos with Funk/Soul/Disco sets...this is my set which includes a fair amount of "classics" so, if you're in that listening mode, this should quench your thirst...also featuring a few recent releases to round out my set...and I'll say this - playing vinyl presents that something-something that is distinct and different from programming digital sets...it's not an elitist thing and I can't really explain it any better but it is certainly a unique experience...could be the actual handling of those plastic platters - maybe?? I put this mix together back in the 80's, using two Technics SL-1200 turntables and a simple mixer. I did it all live and it was a true labor of love!
 Every track is from a StreetSounds Electro album. Recently I took the mix and made a couple of slight edits on the PC just to make it slightly cleaner. 30 years on, I still love to listen to this. A tribute to Morgan Khan and the StreetSounds crew, Mike Allen on Capital Radio, Tony Prince and the DMC International crew, and Groove Records in Soho... you made my late teen years a great memory!

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.
