This week’s special guest is a huge name in the music world, and I have played many of his tracks on my radio show. Hailing from Greece, I am delighted to welcome DJ, Producer and label owner C. DA AFRO!

C. Da Afro was raised in the golden era of the 80s, and started building his vinyl collection of Soul, Funk and Disco records from the age of 13. A vinyl collection which still continues to grow today! In 2009 he started producing his own music, and over the years he has released a staggering number of quality disco grooves on major labels such as Midnight Riot, Chopshop Music, Hot Digits, Alpaca Edits, Masterworks Music and Disco Fruit, to name but a few. 

As well as digital releases, he is passionate about keeping vinyl alive, and has had more than twenty 12” vinyl releases on Samosa Records, See Saw Records and Tropical Disco, as well as his own label, SpinCat Music. 

C. Da Afro is also the co-owner of Athens Voice Radio 102.5, and has hosted his own show every Saturday at midnight for the past 13 years, broadcasting his uplifting disco sounds. 

His favourite motto is “As always just for fun”, an attitude which reflects in the music he writes and the DJ sets he plays. As you will hear for this guest mix ;-)

The definition of Nu-Disco incorporates elements of classic 70s disco music as well as elements of modern dance and house music. ME & MY TOOTHBRUSH are the best example to showcase the definition of that particular style of music. For almost a decade they excite a growing fanbase with disco influenced house music and they also helped pioneering and shaping that still young sub-genre called nu-disco.
The newest track of the guy and his ever so loved toothbrush is another great disco banger made especially for the dancefloors and to make people dance and just have a good time. Funky guitars, live basslines and classy live disco beat patterns will give the feeling of listening to a very well rehearsed disco band but still there's just one guy and his toothbrush sitting in a dark studio dragging and dropping loops and samples into a DAW to create exciting nu disco music for our very entertainment.

Hosting the show live from the sun terrace at BLD Towers we have Esteban aka Ste Hendry, who is slapping on the Factor Funk ahead of treating us to another eclectic set packed full of sunshine grooves and tropical breezes. 

Joining us tonight we have a very, very special guest to take on the mantle for the second hour - the one and only Fran Deeper! Hailing from the sunshine island of Mallorca, Spain, Fran is the Head Honcho of the huge Spa In Disco and Boîte Records labels. 

Fran Deeper is without a doubt one of the most influential dudes on the Disco / Nu-Disco scene. His extensive music experience and unique style has seen him play in some of the most prestigious DJ booths all over the world from Madrid to Mexico City, Ibiza to Tulum, London, San Francisco, Marseille, Jakarta, Barcelona, Milan, Stockholm or Bali, to name a few. This guy is a DJ who feels most at home playing to the crowds on the dance floor, and we cannot wait for you to hear what he has in store for his BLD debut. The Magic Trackast 039 - Ferdinand Debeaufort [FR]

Our 13th show takes on a slightly different format this week following the tragic news that Michel Baumann passed away last month. The producer and DJ was often found under his Soulphiction and Jackmate alias and produced plenty of unique and wonderfully crafted deep & soulful house. He will be sorely missed and the opening section of the show is dedicated to his work. 

The Bandcamp Beat kicks off our section of the show with a release from Jacques Renault and his Schatzi Edits series. Our recommended releases sees plenty of variety this week with Nu and Future disco for starters and a main course of disco house to finish! 

The Brooklyn label Razor-N-Tape are highlighted in the label focus, most notably the white label edits portion of their catalogue. Keep your eye out for the Label Focus expansion into a full length mix series coming next week. 

Featured exclusively on wax we see a brand new label launched last month in Norwich. I Travel To You Records have recently released a 4 track edits package and we feature the super slick sundrenched Latin jam Por Amor from the label. 

And to top all this off we welcome along a guest mixer who is one of the biggest names in music right now. Young Pulse is a producer, mix engineer & record label boss from Paris. After co-founding Mochi Records in 2019 he now heads up The Funky French League with other producers, artists and musicians. Their debut release 'Love Will Bring It' EP showcases their quality and has now received a full remix package from other world renowned producers. His knowledge around the disco & boogie scene is unrivalled and his guest mix showcases both new & old records including some of his labels own productions. We know you are going to love this one!
