October '15 Subway Sets

Reverso 68 (the studio based project of Pete Herbert and Phil Mison) kick 2011 off with a limited edition compilation of some of their favourite forgotten Balearic / disco tracks, as well as a host of previously unreleased Reverso productions. Tracks have been lovingly re-tweaked and dubbed for the dancefloor, and road tested over the last few years in their DJ sets. . Great reactions so far from the likes of Faze Action, Dj Language, Richard Dorfmeister, Disco Bloodbath, Horse Meat Disco, Bill Brewster, Sancho Panza, Sonica FM, Dicky Trisco, Baby G, Rainer Truby to name but a few.

D.S.D. serves up a brand new EP of nu-disco slammers to brighten up the darkest nights.

Think Of You kicks things off with a 5th synth riff, niggling acid and solid nu-disco drums in perfect combination. Deep, hypnotic and ideal for any set, any time.

Flash Atkins and 2 Billion Beats take Think of You and give it some oomph. The riff is amped up, drums are toughened and tension builds to the break before the acid and rave piano produce a hands in the air moment.

Elemental is a mid temp disco chugger pinned down by conga driven drums, a nagging sub and arp. Things build with a piano as pads and EFX cast their cosmic magic.

Just Can't Stop takes a funky bass, vocal stabs, key and brass samples to create a low slung slab of deep groove. Just when things can't get any better, the acid hits.

My Heart keeps the spaced out 4/4 funk alive with a wandering bass, trippy keys, big pads, sampled vocals and delayed arps. Late nights and early mornings never sounded so good.

It's been an incredible summer! We toured UK festivals with our brand new live band, played a ton of DJ shows in Ibiza and met a whole load of amazing people along the way! In fact we got so caught up in it all that we completely forgot to post vol. 009 of our Highlights mix! So here it is, that lost tape, featuring massive tunes from NVOY, Shadow Child & Ben Pearce and our brand new Eton Messy Records signee Limits. Hot on the heels from releases on Ivan Smaggle’s Les Disques De La Mort and Cormac’s Polari; Zillas on Acid prepare their debut EP for Jordan Nocturne's Belfast based label, featuring three impressive acid-drenched cuts and a stellar remix from Vanessa Worm - an artist whose impressive debut album on Optimo Music was one of the stand-out releases of 2020.

The clue’s in the name, and while acid may be the centerpiece of the EP, each track varies in sonic sensibility as we delve deeper into the duo's futuristic sound palette.

Title track Sorry I Was In VR is a serotonin-boosting chugger with earwriggle synth stabs that highlight the pair's ear for melody, while From Afar - futuristic and bold - blends other-worldly sounds with brooding percussion. Vanessa Worm's rendition goes back to basics with a muscular drum-led approach; punchy kicks and bouncy aesthetics churning out a hypnotic wobbler that highlights the euphoria that can be discovered in simplicity.

He Wasn't Afraid... is a downtempo voyage drawn in distinct and vivid colour. Deep bass notes and twangling synths hang in dark space while an acid arpeggio glides through the twinkling vortex. “He wasn’t afraid” cries out in the distance, giving us the push to move forward, one step at a time.

Nocturne has a holistic approach to each release - combining art, music and meaning at every turn. With its roots firmly planted in Belfast and one eye on the rest of the world - 2021 is set to be a busy year for the young forward-thinking imprint.
