While Berlin obviously isn't defined by dark rooms and brutalist 4/4, it's still heartening to receive a fresh package from Germany's cultural capital that falls outside of techno's cold grip. The parcel in question is new from the Splendor & Squalor lads (Brame and Hamo) – a pair originally hailing from Ireland, but now taking firm root in Berlin.

Hamo's EP 'The Cotton Club' is the label's second out the traps, after a weighty first from the duo with remix chops from Session Victim. It's music you can gladly file next to Max Graef, Glenn Astro and their crew's brand of house(-not-house). Vinyl crackle and sighing Rhodes lines abound, all beefed up with low-slung kicks and crafty sampling. Our pick of the litter is the silk-smooth title track: a wonderfully deep house jam with a hip-hop soul. Push play and glide.

In the midst of soaring summer temperatures here in Europe, we can premiere the equally hot housed up remix from British duo Leatherette of new single track "Brainfreeze" by Vienna based electronic duo ogris-debris with you. 

The original version of "Brainfreeze" is techno/dance pop jam with a shimmering groove which will drop on Friday June 24th via Affine Records, is the main single from Ogris Debris´ yet to be released debut album "Constant Spring" and also contains a remix by LuckyMe artist Cid Rim.

Weather Report was crafted from a late night weather broadcast chopped up around breakbeat drums. The chords came naturally, channeling the nostalgic sound of the Yamaha DX7. From there I played a rolling 303 style bass line that opens up into a driving house chorus with layered 808 claps and 909 hi-hats. This song craved a visual component so I reached out to my friend Risa, a New York based flex dancer and we explored China Town with her moving to the sounds of Weather Report.

London bass-smith Rob Burn, after February's single tease, delivers his full Infinite Machine wax debut, under the moniker iO Sounds.

The A-side features "AFDW", a UKG house interplay of dancefloor-rousing vocal stutters and goosebumps-inducing R'n'B melismas, and "Tough Luck", which we've previously described as " a tour-de-force of everything of superlative appeal in electronic music nowadays", and which has not disappointed upon thorough club testing.

The B-side rocks "Bag of Snakes", which builds upon the style of the A-side tracks, while sneaking in more pervasive tech-house elements and a serpentine (wink-wink) progression, and "Always Something", a soulful next-gen deep-house number, featuring one of the most memorable hooks in IM's catalogue.

We also proudly offer not one or two, but four digital bonus tracks, in the form of the remix gallery (not including Cloaka's earlier single-only offering). Deft takes "Bag of Snakes" into mechanistic dub techno territory, drenching the original in plenty of atmosphere, while latching it to an impeccable slow-burning 4/4 beat, with a spoken word sample as centerpience... spoken word our listeners are encouraged to heed. Herr Johann gives "AFDW" an emotional, expressive, score-like leftfield treatment. Sibian & Faun increase the BPM on "Always Something", and characteristically bolster the sound design quota, blending urgency and ambience into an alternately gliding and pummeling future bass workout. Blakmsmif's 'Forge Melded' remix of "Tough Luck" is an exuberant closer, showering us with ear candy via its metallic percussion, and coaxing the original's vocals into full-on euphoria via its bed of trance stabs.
