Fantasound is the fifth full length album from Slovenian Space Disco producer Ichisan. This debut LP on international label Discolypso follows recent singles Harmona and Margit Mono. Ichisan’s sound is Space Disco Pop Bliss - swooshing synths collide with pulsing rhythms and twinkling melodies, creating a kaleidoscopic universe of pure joy.

The artist explains the process:

"The album was recorded during the 2020 lockdown period. In those long uncertain days I watched all kinds of movies and rediscovered the ‘1940 Fantasiaʼ with my three year old son.
I started researching the story behind the production of the animated musical film and especially the sound production of Fantasia. Fantasound was a stereophonic sound reproduction system developed by engineers of Walt Disney and RCA. That is how I found the album title. After the album was recorded I knew that the artwork must be related to Fantasia. I always had ‘The Sorcererʼs Apprenticeʼ in my mind as an inspiration for the album artwork. Mickey Mouseʼs dreams in the dark-blue space and Fantasia poster logo were guidelines. The illustrator Meta Wraber delivered the fantastic artwork in her signature watercolour technique."

'Fantasound’ is a symphony of disco and italo, space synth waves and a happy-go-lucky driving rhythms. A sound that doesn't exist in the real world, the Fantasound is very much alive and in our mind during our happiest moments.

After teasing with several EPs, Ichisan blesses the world via Discolypso with the full Fantasound, an immersive ecstatic experience filled with twists and turns that will keep you on your Tip Top toes.

Reverso 68 (the studio based project of Pete Herbert and Phil Mison) kick 2011 off with a limited edition compilation of some of their favourite forgotten Balearic / disco tracks, as well as a host of previously unreleased Reverso productions. Tracks have been lovingly re-tweaked and dubbed for the dancefloor, and road tested over the last few years in their DJ sets. . The wait is over- PB4 is here. Perhaps one of the most revered album series in drum & bass is back with a vengeance, and some are saying it maybe the best yet.

This 2 of 2 sampler for Platinum Breakz is a dancefloor led affair for DJs and dancers alike, but after you begin unwrapping the layers there is altogether different beast at hand.

On the AA side of this sampler we have two graduates from the university of Rufige - Loxy & Resound. Their contribution to the project is ‘Paradigms’, It’s classic Headz flavour in that it’s a perfect mix of light and dark. The intro is all about swirling synths, haunting vocals and effected percussion until the reese drops and the landscape quickly changes into a breakbeat accented step and three dimensional EFX.

Loxy & Resound - Paradigms

Millie & Andrea are Miles Whittaker and Andy Stott, fellow labelmates at Modern Love who collaborated on an occasional series of 12” releases between 2008 and 2010. It’s been four years since we last heard from them but they now return with “Drop The Vowels”, their debut album. Produced fast and loose through late 2013 / early 2014, it’s an album that recalls the strict and stripped funk of Anthony Shakir as much as it does Leila’s incredible debut ‘Like Weather’, eschewing the dark aesthetic both producers are best known for in favour of something much more visceral. It’s an album borne from a love of both pop and club music, made to evoke an adrenalised, hedonistic, as well as an emotional response.

Opener GIF RIFF brings to life a Gamelan edit stripped bare before the over-compressed ‘Stay Ugly’ breaks out with a tumbling, broken arrangement situated somewhere between Richard D James and Jai Paul. “Temper Tantrum” and “Spectral Source” follow, versions of tracks originally released on the second and third Daphne EP’s respectively, the former a rugged rave anthem tempered by blue strings, the latter a proper dancefloor destroyer recalling Shake’s mighty ‘Madmen’. ‘Corrosive’ flits between a fillibrating, arpeggiated steppers rhythm and a brutal jungle breakdown, while ‘Drop The Vowels’ further explores and strips bare bass & drums before the slow but jacking warehouse killer “Back Down” provides pure percussive abandon. Quay ends the set with something quieter, a sublime coda made entirely from field recordings.

4 big ol’ chunks of heavy house music are the order of the day from New York producer Ralph Session’s hot new EP for Black Jukebox. Combining his skills as a musician and seasoned DJ along with the technical know-how from his work as an audio engineer, the result is a collection of beautifully crafted, hard-hitting house cutz.
‘That Raw’ features a breathy spoken-word vocal from DJ Amir—one half of the legendary duo Kon & Amir—that laces the soulful, deep production with a hypnotic atmosphere. Thick bass bubbles beneath soaring strings and meandering synth arpeggios to give the track a set-building, big-room feel. ‘Do It’ rocks jaunty snatches of piano and sax over its peppy, skippy beat, with a little New Jersey feel in its incessant, phat-bottomed grove. ‘If You Want’ takes us into a deeper direction with its hazy pad work and dubby touches, with a slinky, rubbery bass groove that throbs hard beneath it all. Turn it up loud and feel it envelop you with its wide-open atmospherics. ‘Raw Sax’ rounds off with a dusty, skipping drum track shuffling around dreamy filtering synths, dubbed-out stab patterns and of course a sultry sax line.

Nie Wieder Schlafen returns with a long overdue comeback and brings back the notorious belgium live artist Varaz with a premium vinyl release in a heartfelt tribute to a dear friend, whose memory inspired the creation of this beautiful work of art.

Varaz gently leads the A side with 2 ambient affairs to build the base of the textured and mindful sounds that is incorporated in this white marbled wax.

The EP's first two tracks, "Agora" and "All I Hear," are sophisticated and textured ambient soundscapes that invite the listener into a contemplative and introspective state. Varaz's deft touch blends ethereal tones with intricate soundscapes, creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

"Perfume," the third track, is a deep house groover with a sublime bassline rhythm that leads the melody. Gently whispered vocals call out the titular scent, adding an air of mystery and allure to the track.

The B-side of the EP is equally captivating. "Cloud9" is a dreamy and eclectic story that excites with long-lasting pad hits, crisp percussion, and intricate details in the background. Skull Vomit and Singaya are the two other monikers from Tony Welter who is also half of the fierce Electro/Grind duo Eustachian and partial owner of Fathme Records. The last few years, Tony has left the Eustachian name behind to rest respectively to concentrate on his 2 still very heavily metal influenced solo projects. One (Singaya), a dubstep driven, electronic grind scuffle and the other, (Skull Vomit) a more fast paced industrial breakcore riot.
