Pecoe is back on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings and he&rsquo;s brought a dream team of remixers to put together the volume 2 of his Funk Anthmns series. The first volumns dropped back 2020 and included 5 original jams and some big remixes from some of big names in the funky breaks scene. Volume 2 is no different with 5 new funky bangers from the Pecoe beatmaster himself and remixes coming from dirtyFly &amp; Bodex, discObeta, FunkinRight &amp; Ross Go.
Kicking things off with the dancefloor friendly Sucker U Missed followed by a remix from the Aussie producer duo dirtyFly and Boydex who&rsquo;s added some additional bass to it.Following a similar forumal on the 2nd track called Babe which see a clever remix from the always reliable discObeta who brings out some big solid grooves on his remix of Babe.
Things are about to heat up as we move along to the Highly Strung jam that finds FunkinRight apply some massiv basslines on his badass remix.
This followed by the smooth rocking I Know What You&nbsp;Want which comes well accompanied by a sweet funky remix by Ross Go before we end things with the party funk anthmn Take A Stand.

Pecoe - Take A Stand

A few months ago I posted a simple and short Instagram video where I played the main keyboard line from Bizarre Inc.'s "Playing With Knives" on my keyboard. Rusty Belicek of All Good Funk Alliance had the idea to flip it into a 100bpm hip-hop track. He did a version. Here is mine.

Since we’re feeling festive, we thought it would be a nice time to put out another S&S Guest mix and this time we’ve pulled out the Big Guns in the form of Rory Hoy

Rory is a multi-award winning music producer/DJ, author and film maker. He has DJ’ed throughout the country in clubs and at Major Festivals including Leeds Festival, Leeds United Football Club, and he was the Opening Act at the Tour de France Fan Park performing to over 20,000 people and has DJ’d in Paris several times. He’s supported Craig Charles on his Funk & Soul tours and Craig plays his tracks regularly on his BBC6 Funk & Soul Show.

Rory Definitely delivers in this mix with a big upbeat vibe form start to finish. Without doubt one to get the party started over the festivities.

Andy Cooper gas been a member of Underground Hip-Hop mainstay Ugly Duckling since 1993, performing in more than thirty countries while co-producing and arranging critically acclaimed albums like ‘Journey To Anywhere’ and hit songs ‘A Little Samba’ and ‘Turn It Up’.

1. ‘BRING IT TO ME’

Secretly, I’ve always wanted to record a horribly viscous battle-rap in the tradition of Rakim’s ‘Lyrics of Fury’, Kool G. Rap’s ‘Poison’ or Big Daddy Kane’s ‘Set it off’. Being a member of a fairly happy band like Ugly Duckling, my opportunities to scorch the mic with vocal acid were few and far between so, for years, I’d been stockpiling violent metaphors and grizzly similes which I unleashed on ‘Bring it to Me’. To give this track the appropriate intensity, I hooked up a healthy dose of James Brown and dug through my vinyl stash to procure all kinds of explosive hits, breaks, fills and scratches to back my assault. By the time this tune fades out, I’ve commanded armies, dropped incendiary bombs and assassinated world leaders before pulling the plug on my competition!

2. ‘DO THE CHARLIE BROWN’

A while back, Young Einstein and I produced a track that we never used for U.D. so, with Rodney’s permission, I got out my tools and reworked the old instrumental until it became an upbeat homage to my favorite ‘Blockhead’. For whatever reason, I’ve always loved the way ‘Peanuts’ cartoonists animated the kids dancing at various holiday events so, on ‘Do the Charlie Brown’, I was inspired to give them a new groove for their next TV special; I can’t wait to hear Schroeder’s take on this number! My wife Tina helped with the chorus which was nice because, being that the EP is free, I couldn’t really afford to hire background vocalists. Big shout out to my man Vince Guaraldi!

Ken is blasting into the scene with an instant classic funky joint called Closer To The Sun, and is being accompanied by veteran established names on remix duties. US-based Ken has a good ear for chilled funky hooks and has cooked up a perfect example on the title tune on this EP.

Good friend and partner producers from discObeta is taking it further down the chilled path with their down tempo trippy mix which will be sure to please your ear. discObeta has featured on multiple compilations and remixes as well as dropped the Chinese Robots EP right here on BBP.

Legendary electro disco funk producer from New York Ursula 1000 also adds his signature treatment to the Closer To The Sun jam by adding some catchy electro synth and beats to keep the trippy vibes going strong.

German producer-duo Mined & Forrest takes the track to the dancefloor by applying a well-arranged midtempo groove and some ghetto funk beats. The track is spiced up with a good doze of catch vocal samples for the ghetto funkers.

Last but not least we invited Australian bass producer Bezwun who cooked up a smooth housy bass mix to keep the party rocking well into the night. 

Lots of diversity and twists on a classic original joint on this EP to keep things funky as always – right here on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings.
