Rouse Music Group launch the counterpart to their management group, Rouse Records, with an outstanding new EP from the legend Roy Davis Jr, “Take You There”, featuring the vocals of J.R. Jordan, with the perfect blend of acid, soul and groove.

The EP features a remix from DJ Spank, one-third of the iconic Phuture group with DJ Pierre & Herb J, known as the founders of Acid House. Rounding out the package is a remix from Chicago's Gene Farris, whose had a banner year with his collaborations with Cajmere and numerous top selling singles.

Rouse Music Group is a booking and management company based in San Francisco representing masters of their craft and specializing in the underground sound, including Wally Callerio (Pancho Warwick), Paul Johnson, Gene Hunt, Whitenoize, Gene Farris, and Cappa Regime.

"Boca Na Água" emerges as a connecting point between Brazilian culture and the current electronic music scene. The track, already tested on major stages such as Ritual Stage at Surreal Park, B.O.M.A, Colmeia at Green Valley, Tetto Rooftop, and others, features excerpts from the iconic Rita Lee, a figure who transformed Brazilian music since the late 1970s.

The vocals, rescued from "Mania de Você" (1979), bear the mark of a time when Rita expanded her aesthetic, approaching pop and disco, without abandoning the boldness that made her famous. By inserting it into an electronic context, the production not only pays homage but also reopens this gesture of rupture and freedom.

The result is a track that escapes predictability: Brazilian in essence, global in reach. "Boca Na Água" asserts itself as a work that doesn't repeat formulas, but rather clearly weaves memory and the present.

2019 was a busy year for 84bit, a producer who released a mixture of deep house and nu-disco jams on a variety of largely digital-only labels. "Mamma Jamma" is his debut for Disco Fruit and features a number of notable cuts. Chief amongst these is the title track, a bustling, bass-heavy chunk of booming disco-house that's subsequently taken in a funkier direction by the ubiquitous Dr Packer, Hotmood and Tonbe, whose fine revision is looser, warmer and baggier. The EP also boasts two versions of "HN": an electric piano-laden original mix that expertly joins the dots between elecro, funk breaks and disco-funk, and a bubbly nu-disco revision by label regular Mitko.

Discoholics Anonymous Recordings as a relatively new label are currently making serious ground in the disco house scene. Their 12th release is all set to drop this Friday 19th February and hosts the brilliantly talented French producer Ferdinand Debeaufort. This is the opener and title track "Groovin' In All Directions" which is a compact piece of nostalgic / vintage boogie. A solid underbelly of drive and rhythm allows the marvellous keys, strings and vocals to take their place in style on the second floor. Perfect tempo to kickstart any mix set.
