I came across his remix by accident, and liked it so much that we contacted him about releasing it via here. Thankfully he was more than happy to help, so please download this and share far and wide.

The anniversary  edition is a limited edition, CD only, 3 disc set featuring the original album plus a CD of alternate versions and a CD of remixes. We have only pressed 1455 copies, each one numbered, and once they are gone we will not repress any more.

Banco de Gaia - Heliopolis (Silinder Remix)

Based on a traditional Damara (Namibian) song about gathering honey from beehives in caves, A Bee Song brings soundcloud.com/bancodegaia together with the Future Pasts project to create an uplifting and vibrant track full of life and humanity. With an infectious groove and a buzzing bassline, the track is guaranteed to get heads nodding and feet moving.

The motivation for this re-composition was to bring an indigenous praise song, recorded in 1954 and archived by Basler Afrika Bibliographien in Switzerland, to a contemporary audience as a way of supporting Damara cultural heritage in Namibia. As few people survive who remember the old songs and dances, the hope is that through this collaboration, and the wider Future Pasts project, this musical heritage will live on.

A Bee Song is taken from the forthcoming Banco de Gaia album Trauma, due for release in September 2024, with pre-orders starting next Friday, May 3rd.
