DISCOnnect presents: Carmen's Special 80s Mixtape w/ Bert Radscho & Ronald KOON

Nach vielen back-to-back DJ-Gigs war es nun an der Zeit für @radscho & @ronaldkoon, sich im Studio 325 in Dresden einzuschließen und ein Mixtape der besonderen Art zu kreieren.
Die beiden verbindet nicht nur die Zugehörigkeit zur DISCOnnect-Family, sondern auch die Vorliebe für die Sounds der 80er. In dem entstandenen Tape ist nun alles dabei: vom elektronischem Avantgardismus bis zu poppigen Klassikern – just 80s!

Doch so ein Projekt entsteht selten ohne Anlass: Die eigentliche Initiatorin des ganzen Projektes war Berts Mutter! Sie wird dieser Tage 50 und wünschte sich ein besonderes 80s-Mixtape von ihrem Sohn. Natürlich wollen wir euch aber diesen besonderen Mix nicht vorenthalten! Enjoy!

After many back-to-back sessions at DJ gigs, it was finally time for @radscho & @ronaldkoon to lock themselves into Studio 325 in Dresden and create a special tape together. Not just connected through their DISCOnnect family, the two friends also share a big love for 80s sounds. The tape has it all: from electronic avant-garde to pop classics – pure 80s brilliance!

Just like many projects of this kind there is a special occasion behind it: The true reason is Bert's mom! She is getting 50 years old these days and she had only one wish: a special 80s tape by her son! ❤

Born in East Germany, Ronald KOON started DJing in 2007. Later he increasingly devoted himself to disco and electronic sounds from 1970s to 1980s and began producing his own music. 

Ronald's sets, which are heavy on edits and presented with eclectic energy, are a mixture of classic and contemporary disco and house. The varied repertoire between jackin', soulful, funky and a touch of UK is always driving, exciting, danceable, always good for a surprise, full of heart and never far from the great voices, grooves, and melodies of the disco era. 

His often avant-garde and mostly tongue-in-cheek outfits round off Ronald's presence behind the decks to a lasting experience. Ronald KOON's releases on smaller international disco and house labels have already received some attention in the scene.

Die kalte Jahreszeit neigt sich dem Ende zu, und um euch wieder auf zu heizen und auf Touren zu bringen, gibts jetzt (etwas spät) unser Recording vom Sa Terza letzten Jahres. An dem Punkt nochmal danke an das Team und die Einladung! Das Festival war unser Highlight des Jahres, und die perfekte Abrundung vom Sommer!
Leider ist was bei der Aufnahme schief gelaufen, deshalb haben wir das Set nochmal neu recordet.

This set means a lot to me. Two years ago, I discovered the genre of HipHouse for myself. (Side fact: In the 1980s, Hip House emerged as a crossover genre, combining elements primarily from House and Hip-Hop. Unfortunately, its popularity was short-lived, and it faded away in the early 90s.) Since then, as I've delved into the genre, I've been working on a pure 80s/90s Hip House set. It hasn't been easy, as many songs are hard to find, and the quality of the tracks understandably varies. After months of searching, I finally managed to put it together, and thanks to the support of @luvaffair_vienna, I was able to showcase it at their party with @toytonics. I couldn't have asked for a better venue, atmosphere, and crowd for this set. The dance floor was on fire! Thank you all for that! ❤️

RONALD  K O O N  is known for his everlasting monogamous love for Michael Jackson and the electronic preferably french sound of the late 90s. Some of us have grown up with his infamous monthly excess parties “French Kiss” where he started spinning vinyl in 2007. In 2012 he started to hook up with contemporary techno; the result is @CYU, the love child of two bros. A few years after, fairly experienced DIY-Ronald started producing. Back to the roots: His tracks reflect his eternal love for disco and jackin house and were released by labels such as HOT DIGITS MUSIC (UK) and POCKET JACKS TRAX (Norway) acquiring international recognition. Respect! So musical polyamory at last, we know how it goes. It’s that spicy balance that keeps us groovin’! 

Just in time for early spring, Ronald has recorded a sunny mix of happy disco and house tunes for us. Confidently featuring the big ones, his music reflects the diversity and time he puts into his projects. We’ve grown so fond of this forever-young bundle of energy that we simply must feature him here. Always a pleasure!

In the late 1990s, he discovered French electronic music, which was then becoming popular in the charts. After many nights of partying in clubs and festivals as an enthusiastic partygoer, he first stood behind the decks in a club in 2007, back then still with vinyls. Later, he and his crew organized a legendary party series in his hometown for many years, which was dedicated to French electro of the late 2000s, the "French Kiss". He then increasingly devoted himself to disco and other electronic sounds of the 1970s and 1980s and began producing his own music.
Ronald's sets, which are heavy on edits and presented with eclectic energy, are a mixture of classic and contemporary disco and house. The varied repertoire between jackin', soulful, funky and a touch of UK is always driving, exciting, danceable, always good for a surprise, full of heart and never far from the great voices, grooves and melodies of the disco era. His often avant-garde and mostly tongue-in-cheek outfits round off Ronald's presence behind the decks to a lasting experience.
Ronald KOON's releases on smaller international disco and house labels have already received some attention in the scene. He is a regular member of the DISCOnnect collective, which organizes its own events and publishes a monthly DJ podcast.
