From up here the sheer expanse of the universe was laid out bare. Back on earth it was impossible to understand how limitless it truly was; it put everything into perspective. Only days had passed since they'd embarked on the most ambitious move of their lives, for now they remained positive, still absorbing everything around them. It was a spectacle that couldn't quite be put into words; you had to see it to believe it. 

Sinchi continue their mission to platform up-and-coming talent from across the globe with the fifth instalment in their Altered States compilation series. Since launching the initiative the Amsterdam-based label and collective have unearthed producers who they feel have a unique sound that needs to be shared with the world. The club-focused tackle on offer this time comes from the likes of Hamburg duo Freakazzé II, French electro-driven producer Nomenklatür, Mexico's Oscar Avendaño aka Levantine, our pick from Leo af Ekenstam, and several more.

As with all Sinchi releases, profit from sales go to the Sinchi Foundation which supports indigenous peoples worldwide.

Рух (Ukr. – [Rukh] – Movement) is a compilation series launched during the war in Ukraine and released by Kyiv-based label and promoter Worn Pop. All proceeds from this compilation will be donated to the ‘Musicians Defend Ukraine’ fund that helps Ukrainian artists on the frontline. 

From the beginning Worn Pop has established itself as Kyiv’s post-punk influenced formation, booking artists like Boy Harsher, Lebanon Hanover, The Soft Moon and in the same time promoting new Ukrainian acts. The label came to the party scene launching Black! Factory Festival together with Closer Club and since then has expanded its’ borders to regular club nights at Closer and other venues featuring dark and obscure dance music, inviting La Mverte, Kris Baha, Curses and more artists from similar movements. 

All the artists on this compilation built the actual character of Worn Pop by playing at our events. Now they join the very first release in a series that contains 10 tracks exclusively produced by them and thoughtfully folded into one story which can be listened from the beginning to an end as a solid album. 

Among the International names featured, there are Ukrainian acts coming, such as Geuxx, Hungry Boys, Ship Her Son and Aircraft. Their tracks here are written during the full-scale russian war against Ukraine which still goes on.

London-based Greek artists and Inside Out Records bosses Stavros Potamitis, aka Stevie R, and Constantinos Parisinos, aka Parisinos join Roam Recordings with three original offerings. Both the title track, Martian Judy, and Bugs in a Hurricane are synth-laden low-slung jams perfect for catching a steady groove or for just zoning out. Remina keeps the theme of dreamy synths while picking up the tempo with an upbeat mood. The EP is accompanied by a sublime remix from Glasgow-based MR TC, who takes Martian Judy further into dreamy acid territory.

Fresh off the release of his own 'Repertoire' EP and label showcases in Berlin and Brooklyn, label boss Beartrax now prepares the twelfth Melodize vinyl, this time handing a debut to Manuel Ortúzar aka Aural Trace, who delivers the neon-drenched ’Midnight Thoughts’ EP. 

As one half of Random Atlas, the young producer can be found exploring the boundaries of New Wave and Post Punk. Flying solo as Aural Trace however, the Chilean embarks on more synthesized Italo dreams. 

The EP kicks off with 'Soft Lips.' A non-stop, full-speed drive through the radiant passages of outer space loaded with fast synth arpeggios, epic strings and aggressive linn beats, the track is underpinned by a mean bass line and a glossy layer of refinement that will keep those lips super supple. 

“Midnight Thoughts” is characterised by lush retro pads, raw 707 drums, and longing gentle melodies that form to create a romantic midnight Italo delirium, whilst “Resolution” is a romantic ode to an unforgettable time where introspective dx feelings meet tense, detuned synth pads, agitated large gated drums, and a huge, rounded bass. 

Completing the package with a wonderfully compelling rework of ’Soft Lips’ is Melodize favorite Chinaski, who ramps up the tempo whilst staying true to the blazing vibe of the original.

A year after releasing the “So Sprach Psychedelia” Remixes EP, brilliantly reworked by Rodion, Skelesys and Rambal Cochet, Thisbe Recordings´ Pyrame releases a second sequel of remixes from his EP “Electronica Melancholia”.

On board - and on target - to remix the title track “Electronica Melancholia”, two usual suspects of Thisbe: Volta Cab (“Alphabet of Humanity” (THISBE009), “Oseary Drakoulias” (THISBELTDX001)) and Philip Lawns (“Ten Years of Travel” (THISBE004)). Joining them for the occasion, a recent artist on the label, A-Tweed, who is half of Oblako Maranta, his collab with Radial Gaze and who recently released “Trance Beckenbauer” (THISBE015).

The Electronica Melancholia Remixes EP starts off straight into A-Tweed´s magic of producing that trademark acid weird disco sound that conveys such a special groove on the dancefloor - and beyond. Remixing the original track into something somehow progressive as well, the Rome-based artist nails another classic of the label´s catalogue. His kick is firm, his percussions even firmer. Yet, A-Tweed manages to keep some of the softness from the original melodies layered over a captivating bassline. A fine work all around.

Next on the Tracklisting is Philip Lawns, who revisited “Electronica Melancholia” from his very intimate lens, taking the listener on a journey into his own mind. Those ambient sounds from within that the Italian artist manages to subtly reproduce in his music, in perfect symbiose with Pyrame´s original arpeggios. The flow is deep and at the same time, dirty like a dusty turntable jumping at every turn. His remix is a portray, where distant voices echo over a phone ringing, hoping from someone to pick up. The music can´t stop, the call remains unanswered.

Third - but not least - the Krasnodar-based über-productive Volta Cab sets once again some serious standards in the post-punk genre, crafting from the very first kick on a mesmerizing mix of EBM and dark electro overlaid by an intense and irresistible infusion of synths on acid. All that in a less-than-4 minutes remix. Powerful.

Cherry on the cake: A-Tweed treats us with an Acid Dub version of his remix. An almost 12 minutes long mix, cruising a 79bpm, to ensure an immersive experience into “la mélancholie électronique” up to the very end of the Remixes EP. Gold.
