During the first lockdown in Tel Aviv, Guy Shaked – also known as Takiru – decided to take his music to other musical dimensions and explore his production abilities in different genres and tempos. The result is “Voices of July”, a colourful EP, featuring three originals and three remixes, in which every tune has its special story and mood. 

Takiru is well known for his previous releases that received support from acclaimed artists such as Moscoman, Jenia Tarsol, Chaim, and many more, and now he is proud to present his debut release on the respected Lisbon-based label Karakter. The remixes were made with love by Rina & Benji, A-Tweed (SXDNS222/FREEDL029) and Tempura The Purple Boy. 

Premiered here, A-Tweed’s version of the most romantic track of the release. In his interpretation of “Je Taime”, the Italian producer brought the love theme to his world, soaking the original into his characteristic weirdness: Distinctive percussive elements and a throbbing bassline yield the danceability, while the ethereal vocals deliver an eerie and erotic atmosphere.

Italian producer Alberto Melloni (@albertomelloni) collaborates with Mexican producer Alex Aguayo (@alexaguayomusic) on a four track EP titled ‘Matter of time’. The EP comprises two uplifting originals and two floor filling remixes from Tulioxi and Empathy Slow. Alberto & Alex who have featured on labels such as Nein Records, Paradiso and Emerald & Doreen just to name a few are back with another stomping release on Inflect Records (@inflectrecords).

An EP perfect for the summer season. Just in time for the return of dance. Offering up an array of submerged deep bass lines layered over exhilarating progressive leads in a soundscape concoction. Resulting in a contrast of emotions throughout the EP from ecstasy to reflectiveness. Spine tingling melodies help generate a sense of reflection both within the music and of the troubles of today, as they seem to drift away and become a distant memory.

The Remixers Tulioxi & Empathy Slow keep the fundamental elements/mood of the original tracks intact, whilst incorporating their signature sounds to round off what is truly a special EP.

Alex Aguayo & Alberto Melloni - Matter Of Time (Tulioxi Remix)[Inflect Records]

Taken from "Balam - Chants of Pachamama (Part 2) EP (Hard Fist)". Out October 15th.

After a first volume released in September 2020 on Hard Fist, Argentinian Balam comes with “Chants of Pachamama (Part. 2)”, including a remix by Matias Aguayo.
This time Balam focuses on the experience around the ritual of magic plants that is practiced in the deep South-American rainforest. By mixing modular synth, stromping basslines, haunting vocals and real played percussions produced in his studio “Submarea” in Buenos Aires, he recreates a psychedelic trip from beginning to end. 
The opening track “Yagé” is the name for a magic plant that can be found in many places in South America. With a tight djembe, the magician comes with his chants for starting the ceremony just before the bass bursts for a pagan dance. An irresistible lead synth takes the climax higher until the break where the magician enters the void and the psychedelic trip begins.
“El Curandero” - the chaman who leads the ritual - is the second tune of a frenetic organic and modular percussion bass driven dance stomper. Blazing synthesizers create a state of confusion and hallucinations when “el curandero” chants his icaros. The djembes and shakers move behind the heavy bassline while analog ding and dongs go crazy all over.
The second last track “Golfo”, just before the remix, is an instrumental tune, the end of the experience: heavy synthetic percussion, modular ambient sounds, a modal marimba and a very present djembe jamming until it fades in the analog night.
The closing track is a great reinterpretation of “Wakax” from “Chants of Pachamama (Part 1)” by the legend Matias Aguayo. A dark and heavy bass mixed with a tricky use of lots of the original elements makes you wanna twerk all night long.

The laser-like layers added by Edd are definitely something and resulted in a peak time anomaly!

Last Night Another DJ Saved My Life - Kimbassdj

John Parsley (@johnparsley) makes his first appearance on Playground Records (@playgroundrecords) to mark an Ep that kicks the board and leaves a musical riot of unusual dimensions. 3 originals and 2 remixes from Bird Of Paradise and Local Suicide & Time To Sleep giving a roam without letup.

It opens with ‘Coin Crash’, a dancefloor killer with all the letters. An infectious and tremendously addictive bass takes us out plowing in 5th gear, acid modulations pass through the sides leaving a technicolor trail. A break that continues long because an electro techno arpeggio enters on the fly and takes us by the teeth towards the deep trip section of the track. Ruthless.

‘High Life’ puts on the brakes and starts off with a suspenseful and rarefied atmosphere. Bells, curious modulations, immersive aquatic environment. The bass beats constant and right immersing us in a dense and thick musical structure. Distortion contrasts with cloudy pads of ethereal sounds that suspend us. A journey with very personal characteristics shows us that John Parsley is a different musician.

‘New Guardian’ is an intense and hung downtempo break. Following the conceptual line, the atmosphere of intrigue surrounded by acidic but melodic and percussive sounds is mixed with metallic modulations. The resonances open and the harmonics distort, opening the pores of the skin. A dreamlike environment takes hold and shoots hallucinatory images of an expanded and exploded reality. The ears are excited, electronic music of connection towards other vibrational dimensions.

Bird of Paradise is the first guest to make a remix and gives us a different version of ‘Coin Crash’, although equally club bomb, he offers us a completely different soundscape. Supported by the bass of the original they take us on a journey of crossed chord keyboards but totally harmonic in their dissonances. A ping pong of a constant acid modulation that opens and closes towards the sides makes us move our heads without respite. Tasty sweet and sour.

For an unbeatable closure the Ep has as remixers of “High Life” the Local Suicide duo accompanied by Time To Sleep. Adding dark and gloomy vowels, a huge flying electro comes out, cruising through the galaxy. Polished and elegant black, sober but glamorous, it moves slowly and takes us to a state of awe. A song that deserves to be played in clubs because it is made to thunder great soundsystems, hypnotizing the masses.
