FLVN brings an array of darkened synth sounds and heavy rhythms to his chugging new ‘Sensaciones Platonicas’ EP on bORDEL Records.

Frenchmen Flavien Gaubert aka FLVN grew up on a mix of Bowie and Radiohead, the noise of Sonic Youth and the bold bass of Soviet Soviet, and all that comes out in his own music. It's a new and raw take on techno-disco that is psychedelic and full of surprises on labels like Night Noise and Playground. Now he steps up to bORDEL Records with two guest vocalists.

The first is Blaues Einhorn aka Charlie Lumberjack on the track 'Freaks,' a stiff, jarring drum machine rhythm with plenty of post-punk angst and crashing hits. The deadpan vocal adds menace while the fat bass stomps on and industrial sounds in the distance up the tension. It's a brilliantly austere cut. Argentina-born singer and producer Abby Knives then brings occult charm and libidinous overtones to 'Sensaciones Platonicas'. This one has another stark and mechanical groove with booming bass and cold wave synth chords. It's a seriously heavyweight track with a twisted late-night energy that is finished to perfection by the seductively whispered vocals.

This is a haunting yet alluring new offering from the dark synth wizard that is FLVN.

One of the compilations of 2023 Curses' Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX saw the Berlin-based Musician and DJ explore the darker side of club music. Bringing together 49 tracks that joined the dots between early industrial pioneers, EBM legends and post-punk bands with some of the most exciting artists around today this was a celebration of the kind of raw electronic music best performed live in smoke filled clubs.

One might suspect that between this and the first equally acclaimed, and substantial, Next Wave Acid Punx album clubland's gothic vaults might be eerily empty. But, just as every good live act knows, you should hold something special back for an encore, and so Curses is back with Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX - Secret Cuts, 11 bonus tracks that all deserve their own moment in the strobe light.

"Curating Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX was a big puzzle," explains Curses. "Figuring out how to fit all these tracks across 6 different 12"s required a lot of calculations and, to be quite frank, I was never that great at maths. Unfortunately this meant we had to cut some real heaters off of DEUX. But Eskimo and I decided that we couldn't let these gems go to dust. I've been DJing them loads in my sets, so it was only fair to share them with y’all to DJ and rage to yourselves. So, here it is... the final blast of bonus tracks for Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX: Secret Cuts."

Featuring the likes of Ghost Cop, Paresse, Nuovo Testamento, You Man, plus a new Curses track and Redux version, Secret Cuts is a worthy companion piece, packed full of the kind of jagged synths, jackhammer kickdrums, heavily gated snares and punk attitude that saw Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX named a BBC 6 Music compilation of the week, score a perfect 10 from Faze Mag and go straight in the record bag of every DJ that appreciates the darker things in life.

Curses - The Deep End (Redux)

Dina Summer (@dinasummer), the collaborative band project between Kalipo (@kalipo-1) and duo Local Suicide (@localsuicide), invites you to indulge in the excess, glamour, and magic of the 80s with their new ‘Hide & Seek’ EP on Iptamenos Discos. Featuring a blend of new wave, dark disco and EBM fuelled techno, the EP embraces the nostalgic synth filled sound of the past whilst bringing a modern touch.

The EP kicks off with ‘Unter Strom’, which features a dramatic opening that inspires visions of a night sky soaked in neon light. The energy slowly builds until the drums burst onto the scene and you feel at home within the beat. A euphoric melody and captivating vocals perfectly embody the ecstatic feeling of a full dance floor and is setting the tone for what’s to come.

Following the gripping beginning, we move into the title song 'Hide & Seek' - a soaring track which brings a sense of freedom. Shining and '80s reminiscent, it is a radiant and romantic love letter to disco balls, laser beams, smoke machines and hazy dreams. A blissful and invigorating spirit pulses through the song which elicits the feeling that you are floating up into the air, breaking through a sea of grey clouds to reveal the sunshine beyond.

‘All Or Nothing’ is a grungy dancefloor stomper with commanding vocals and a forceful kick and snare which unite to create a relentless and powerful sound. The assertive lyrics and intense electrifying atmosphere will be sure to have everyone’s fists pumping in the air.

'Excess' takes us deeper. Dripping with texture and allure - the track is a lavish, swirling pool of synths and seductive vocals. Its indulgent bassline guides us through a dynamic night-time landscape, leading us into the EP's finale.

Last but not least, the EP also features a club edit of 'Hide & Seek', which gives the track an entirely different feel. The same lyrics now have a newfound sense of urgency. It's darker and biting - a thrilling counterpart to the original version.

Impassioned and electric from start to finish, "Hide & Seek" EP is an impressive addition to the Dina Summer and Iptamenos Discos catalogue. Releasing on February 23rd, 2024 it will be available on 12” vinyl and all digital & streaming platforms.

Sonidos Subterraneos is pleased to premiere a new track, this time we have the great Toledo based label : Banshees, with the track of: Days Of Sorrow  - Wild World (Skelesys  Remix)

After passing through Ombra Festival (2022), the legendary 80's band, Days of Sorrow, reemerged from its slumber to once again be at the head of the synth wave artists of the moment. It is for this reason and for its legendary legacy that Banshees Records has decided to give another twist to the songs of the German group with this double vinyl of remixes featuring internationally renowned artists such as David Carretta, Black Merlin and Skelesys.
“Days of Sorrow, The Remixes” is the 14th release from the Spanish label and on this double vinyl the band's anthem songs are reviewed, such as “Firestar”, produced by the label's boss, Israel Padilla, and performed by the Madrid artist. From Hell, “Travel”, reinterpreted in an electronic key by Synths Versus Me (Oráculo Records) and by the Valencian Spammerheads, “Wild World”, covered by both the Catalan producer based in Tuscany, Love The Machine, and by his Argentine counterpart based in Berlin, Skelesys, or “A Thousand Faces”, a track that has the review of Carretta, Parissior and JG Outsider and “Shadows”, a song that has the imprint of the aforementioned Black Merlin, the Italian Chris Shape and two more artists like Alpha Sect and Carlos GrabStein.
“Days of Sorrow, The Remixes” is a double LP where the German band's own sound is reinterpreted, giving it a more electronic touch, focused largely on the dance floor. An album that will be essential in any DJ's collection.
A little history: Days of Sorrow knew how to carve out a niche for themselves in the new wave of new wave bands of the 80's despite not having much production. Their first album, "Remembering The Days", is a 12-inch with 4 unique pieces, released in 1984. The group has recently released “Soulmate Sister”, their comeback in album form. Currently Days of Sorrow has two original members, William Lennox (vocals) and Andre Schreiber (bass, guitar) who have been joined by their friend and producer of their demos Frank Junge (keyboards).
