Since 2007 Discotexas has flown the flag for quality disco and leftfield House music releases from a wide array of artists out of its sunny base in Portugal. Now, for the second time, the label is compiling some of its most popular cuts alongside a selection of unreleased exclusives that will soon see the light of day as singles packages.

The title is Discotexas Picnic II, a nod to the fact that this release shines a light on known and unknown artists in one big family gathering much like... a picnic! Importantly this is richly musical centered around disco and house music. It is emotion-full and fueled by organic and human ways of doing memorable tunes.

There are many highlights along the way and unreleased tracks at time of compilation release include opener Moullinex – ‘To Be Clear’ (RAC Remix), a prickly, slo mo and vocal led jam bursting with colourful synths and real instruments. Others include the strident boom bap and real sounding percussion of Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver’s ‘Cul De Sac’, Da Chick’s radiant and pop leaning ‘Lotta Love’, the Xinobi remix of Justin Faust’s ‘Space Rhumba’ and Xinobi’s ‘Puma’ (Moullinex Remix).

Elsewhere the cosmic funk of Jesse Oliver’s ‘Oceans’ (Mirror People Remix) soars to the twinkly night sky with glistening arpeggiated melodies, 80s leaning chords and a healthy dose of disco dazzle, whilst edit kings Psychemagik do their inimitable thing on a remix of Mirror People’s ‘Kaleidoscope’ and turn it into a prowling, nagging, dark disco number that really works its way under your skin with its celestial keys and slightly haunted late night vibe. Wherever you look here there is pure and modern disco gold from some of the genre’s finest producer’s as expertly A&Red by the close knit Discotexas family.

Having just released his long-awaited third studio album earlier this autumn, electronic outfit Ishi have now returned to unveil a new remix. Ishi is teaming up with Kraak & Smaak for a remix of Pro's & Con's; adding their distinctive sound; a blend of disco, funk, electronic and house.

Dutch producers, DJ’s and live act Kraak & Smaak have built up a jaw-dropping track record since their first EP dropped in the early 00s: five studio albums, four remix albums and an amazingly long string of singles and remixes (from Jamiroquai to Solomun) on labels such as Jalapeno Records, Exploited, Razor ’n Tape, Future Disco, Toolroom and Spinnin’. Their highly original and distinctive sound, consisting of a blend of disco, funk, electronic and house, has brought their dj sets and the live band to all corners of the world and on festivals such as Glastonbury, SXSW, Exit and Coachella. 

Ishi’s ability to successfully walk the line between an ambitious studio act and a multi-sensory live experience allows him to engage the audience in an uplifting celebration of life. Fans have been waiting eight long years for the new album 'Sweet Gold' which just dropped on Swedish Indie Label Icons Creating Evil Art, the home of Flora Cash, Summer Heart, and Glamour Hammer. It features the hit singles ‘Not My Girl’ and ‘Lo-Fi Love Affair’ and the album's focus track 'Pro's & Con's'. Following the successful release of the Yuksek remix of 'Not My Girl' (supported by the likes of A-Trak, Kiss FM, Ministry of Sound, Amazing Radio etc.) and a remix collaboration with the internationally acclaimed EDM-producer Oliver Nelson, and working with CAPYAC this summer for their  ‘Goody Goody (Capyac's Good Mix)’, Ishi has successfully proven that collaborating and releasing remixes works really well for his music.
