FULL CIRCUIT is the 4th episode of Discrete Circuit's six-part DJ mix series called CIRCUITS. Each edition will focus on a different style and mood, reflecting his deep love for all angles of electronic music and beyond.

FULL CIRCUIT is probably the most important mix of the whole series as it showcases only Discrete Circuit's very own music – some already released in the past, others completely new and unreleased. These 62 minutes reflect his journey pretty nicely because you can hear where he started and where he's at right now.

BCCO Podcast 405 is by Berlin DJ, producer, and promoter Discrete Circuit. This 55-minute special recording, captured live at Zhao Dai on Leave Festival in China, is a highlight from his latest Asia tour in 2024.

Discrete Circuit has demonstrated his deep love for electronic music through various roles for over a decade. He has curated the renowned AWAY party series, which just celebrated a decade of remarkable events with a quality-stacked compilation, AWAY 10 YEARS. With early releases on labels such as DVS1's Mistress Recordings, Delsin, and Darko Esser’s Wolfskuil Records, he recognized the need for his own techno-focused imprint: Astray Records.

Following the Detroit-infused techno jams that made up the “Embers Ignited EP” (2023), his latest Astray release showcases the trippy nature of his techno sound. In 2024, Discrete Circuit’s productions will get proper remix treatments by Efdemin, Gabriella Vergilov, and more.

The Berlin native, Discrete Circuit (Astray/Mistress/Delsin), has been on the road for most of 2019 but managed to fire this new EP off to the pressing plant before taking himself and the Astray vibe to more exotic locations. His hypnotic groove and drum machine physicality are back with a vengeance on this 4 tracker. The original on the A side — also featuring a collab with Blind Observatory — and an open invitation to reinterpret “Standard Error” on the flip. One ethereal mix from Samuel Kerridge and the other again from label homeboy H4L. Heavy, deep, experimental combinations.

 

The A side lifts off with that addictive 909 pulse. Call and response. Kick versus open hi-hat. Worming its way in, the synth mesmerises, slightly off-kilter, deviating. No cadence, no end. “Standard Error” is stripped down machine groove with alien code skittering inside the mind. No frills. The AA, with Blind Observatory and “Colabs”, delves into musing and reflective territory. A virtual garden of thought and the interaction of careful collaboration.

Samuel Kerridge takes his interpretation of the title track into heady heights on the start of the flipside. This remix of “Standard Error” is not only immersive and experimental in nature, but opens new spaces in some kind of post-techno realm — virtual, interactive. Biology and technology in some kind of beat skirmish on the edge of space. Or maybe we’re just tripping. The H4L remix might even be more out there still. No rock, no anchor, just broken industrial jazz at the bottom of the ocean. The digital bonus, “Disordered State”, is more late night circuitry chug.

British DJ and producer Inland (Ed Davenport) has compiled and mixed ‘Stream State’, his biggest project to date, bringing together over 20 artists in a DJ-ready compilation of colourful, diverse modern techno on his label Counterchange.

Complete with a 90 minute continuous mix by Inland himself, the project celebrates over 15 years behind the decks and cements Davenport’s reputation not only as a tireless force in the studio, but as a trusted selector and curator of contemporary club music. Spanning deep idm-rooted studies, lush chord-driven euphoria, powerful modernist workouts and tough house-groove jackers, Davenport weaves an addictive mix full of character and his precision mixing style.

From veterans and heroes like DJ Skull, Efdemin, Joel Mull, Boddika, Peter Van Hoesen, and Mark Broom (alongside Discrete Circuit), to a new echelon of up-and-coming talent like Rhyw, Sophia Saze, Jamaica Suk, Johanna Knutsson, Aiken, DJ Sodeyama, Perm and Felix Fleer, there’s an underlying thread of shimmering production values and close attention to detail in every track. Inland also selected debuts from Berlin based artists Fred Mann and Arbitrage, and welcomes back BNJMN, P. Lopez and Distant Echoes to the label, now in its 7th year of operation.

‘Stream State’ is Inland’s celebration of the DJ mix / compilation format. Enamoured with UK dance music culture in the mid 90s, the burning, illicit energy of early rave mixtapes left a huge impression. Mystical bootlegs recorded at mass gatherings in fields or late night Radio One transmissions captured on cassette – their eternal spirit was absorbed and cherished. Now more than 2 decades later, Davenport has channeled that fascination into this weighty collector’s item and a captivating continuous mix.

All 22 tracks included are new and original productions made by some of Inland’s favourite artists and colleagues. A network and a community – complied and presented by an artist who continues to demonstrate his longevity and unique voice in the scene.

In 2020 Inland will play a series of ‘Stream State’ events hosting a selection of the artists involved at celebrated venues around the world. The first announced dates are to be held at IFZ in Leipzig, The Block in Tel Aviv, FOLD in London, ://about blank in Berlin, Nitsa in Barcelona, Vurt in Seoul, Gare in Porto and a pre-release event at Spacehall record store, Berlin.
