About the release:
The Minim Records catalogue expands this summer with further eccentric output. Marking the eighth release on the label is a Montreal based feast for the imagination. An emotional journey from beginning to end, constructed by three Montreal natives, Guillaume Coutu-Dumont, and Vincent Lemieux famously known for their work as the Flabbergast duo, and eclectic composer, Ohm Hourani. Each of the former worked with Ohm individually to formulate the two tracks you can find within the “Pitter Patter” EP. 

The A side is the brainchild of Guillaume and Ohm under their new GuiOhm guise. “Gensuit” is an almost eleven minute mind-bending quest of innovatively arranged jazzy drums, simmering synths and pads all conversing blissfully, everything making sense, slowly becoming hypnotized by the the intricate details the dynamic duo have pieced together. 

Ohm and Vincent join forces for the B side with their Wetsuit moniker, another pensive and transcending composition that meanders through various minimal moods. As “Blanc Soleil” sways back and forth a trippy vocal sample slithers in and out, seducing the listener to join their otherworldly state of mind. 

Each of the artists involved bring a packed bag of their own ingredients driving this release to be an exquisite blend of genres with influences from jazz to world, combining this with live instruments, samples and ethereal textures. An introspective-predominant approach to minimalism  from three of Montreal’s finest.

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional. 

Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

THE CONCEPT BEHIND POLYMATH:

Every artist has their own perspective, imagination, style and inspirations. They share this with the world through their creations and performances, their own musical concepts. Each concept is unique, as is every performance.

Polymath can be defined as ‘many talents’. The Polymath concept will ask different artists to create pieces inspired by their perception of a singular theme. This concept gives artists the freedom to share their own visions on a given notion, to push and stretch their boundaries of creativity, and to present inspired tracks and artwork.

Each Polymath release is an experiment. It will include three different artists’ pieces inspired by the same theme. This is tied together with ornate artwork to complete the bespoke showpiece.

"Marc DePulse - Devotion" has been released on Polymath alongside the interpretations from Rafael Cerato and Mattia Pompeo.
